Review: Vin Diesel takes Riddick back to his simple, brutal roots

"Riddick" moves fast, and there's a very streamlined quality to the narrative. There's no third-act twist to anticipate here. Riddick fights an entire planet. That's pretty much it, and as such, I enjoyed it greatly. It feels like everyone involved knew exactly what film they wanted to make, and it came together in an enjoyably preposterous manner. As long as Twohy and Diesel want to keep making these bloody silly slices of pulp, I'll happily keep watching. "Riddick" might not be the best film I've seen this year, but it's among the most self-assured.

so i was watching willow last night for like the 4billionth time, but something really bothered me this time that i never thought of before... elora doesn't go back to her mother at the end! i don't think she was killed in captivity, unless that happened when i went to bathroom or something. but anyway, that just made me sad for the first time... must be the new parent thing

New French Poster For Snowpiercer And News That Some Of Us May See The Director's Cut In Cinemas - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Bong Joon-Ho previously said that Harvey was being “soft” regarding the edits but now he’s saying that the film being cut is still up for negotiation:

Me and The Weinstein Company are still negotiating about everything… The movie at the festival, the French version is my own director’s cut. In Korea, Japan, France and many other European countries have all bought my director’s cut. And for North America we are still negotiating with The Weinstein Company, we are discussing.

Weinstein Co. back-tracking??

UNDER THE SKIN Review. Jonathan Glazer’s UNDER THE SKIN Stars Scarlett Johansson | Collider

Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin is strange, visually absorbing, cerebral, and rarely compelling. The film attempts to obscure its fairly simple story and subtext in order to imply depth, and while it may take a while to figure out the movie’s motives, that’s due to the lethargic pacing rather than the complexities of the themes. Thankfully, there’s no pretentiousness as Glazer clearly knows what he’s going for, and has made some admittedly clever moves to get there. Unfortunately, there’s nothing particularly fascinating beneath the surface.
