The Bear (season 4-Hulu):
Reluctantly going back for more after last season. Although, I am a fan of when shows take risks and season three of The Bear took big swings(as cooks say: being too chefy), that may have alienated, well, all of us. Hello, my life.
But, for the most part the conflict in the show characters' and how those scenes are shot and explored, have in the past given me anxiety. The money problems, family in fighting, substance abuse, imposter syndrome, deadbeat friends you can't let go and undiagnosed mental illness in a parent are all universal topics but damn, ease me into that warm bath of emotion. They pair it with a low-fi, 90's & alt rock soundtrack to counterbalance the visual chaos. It can be a lot, like mute the episode and just read the subtitles, a lot. Positives: the food looks pretty, all the people in the show have heart/depth and despite it all, Carmy is trying his best to make his dream work. Good luck, my dude, we are all rooting for you.
Lightening things up a tad: Is it just me, or do you also just want to see at least one episode of just (bad) cousin Richie and semi-mobbed up uncle Jimmy having goofy adviseral South Side adventures?
