All Things:THEME PARKS

Went to Disney yesterday to check out the 'Celebration'. Best thing for me was the Matterhorn. Love the ride, but it doesn't agree with my old and wretched back, but i had to try it...to see. First thing, there is a nice effect when you make your first climb. 3 'glacier panels' with the old Yeti design projected as if he's trapped on the other side. Hard to see and unless you are looking at the panels you will miss. Then, the ride...same as always...very bumpy and fast, but the new Yetis are frightening and magnificent. State of the art animatronics just made me 13 years old...nothing like REAL stuff.
Hatbox ghost was good, but in a bad spot. Comes up fast...and is too close. No sense of mystery/danger. Just...there.
The new Electric light parade is impressive, but it really is a 15 minute best of Pixar commercial. The old parade was abstract(mostly) this is just loud, shrill and commercially motivated. With horrible pop music it just really limits how much you can just take it in visually and appreciate it. Oh, and I have no problem with it...but the parade really is a few ecstasy tabs shy of basically being Carnival night in West Hollywood.
The new fireworks show was impressive for the most part. But Disney's overreliance on Frozen is getting tiresome. Once again...bad pop music ruins things, especially when their are great old school nods to Mary Poppins/Jungle Book that really show you how good Disney did the soundtrack thing back in the day.

I've been waiting VERY impatiently for the Matterhorn to open back up. It's one of my favorite rides. Can't wait to go check out the new additions!

I went Sunday evening, checked out the new fireworks and the Paint the Night parade, both were really cool. There were some small tributes to the MSEP in the new parade which I thought was awesome.

Haven't been on the Matterhorn yet to check out the new updates, but I really wish they would have fixed the sleds. Can't stand riding those things now, awkward handle positioning, no padding in seats, seating position has you planted on your tailbone and the bumps in the track transfer straight through the hard plastic of the sled to your tailbone.

Btw, the new addition of Hattie to the HM is freakin' awesome!!!

And, blah, the explosion mist wasn't working on the last lift hill of BTMRR, boooo!

Was one of the MSEP tributes Perrey and Kingsley's "Baroque Hoedown?"

So I finally went on the Matterhorn at Disneyland after the refurbishment and OH MY GOD the yeti scared the **** out of me. Way better than I was expecting.

And the new parade and fireworks show are legit. Too much Frozen though...and I like Frozen.

I thought for several minutes last night that Sharknado 3 was just one big ad for Universal Studios Florida. LOL

They still need to do something about those incredibly uncomfortable seats though.

Paint the Night is quite cool...but I'd take the Tokyo Disneyland Version of the Main Street Electrical Parade, Dreamlights, over PTN. This is what happens when you continue to take a classic and plus it up every few years like Disney should have done with the current US version of MSEP, now in Florida. This screams Disney far more than PTN IMO.

YES. I was so excited that I didn't have to sit on someone's lap anymore, but those bobsleds are borderline painful now.
