Byfield

Wasn’t that aimed at nr8 Ben Chariot, who had crosschecked him pretty hard in front of the net just before the goal?
Coulda been, it was definitely a heat of the moment reaction. Like I said, I was surprised. I simply thought it was a departure especially considering after his first one when the game was still up for grabs he was so much more composed about it all. I don't think it was a negative unless somehow he's decided after that second period he's just going to get as many goals as he can and get paid and its all about him (pretty unlikely).

It clearly was. Chariot was head hunting and Byfield got the last laugh. A player should rub another players nose it in when they're taking liberties like Chariot was.

I would have preferred he take a cross checking major with chiarots face after scoring that goal. Or go after him in some way, considering the abuse he was taking before the goal

The next evolution in Byfield’s game will come when he gets stronger. If he can add another 10 lbs to his frame it’s going to allow him to really push back against the biggest d men in the league.

Not only adding weight/strength, but his aggression levels. I want to see him -punishing- opposing defenders on the forecheck. Take a few nasty boarding penalties. Etc.

Quinton Byfield is a center. Also, a side note, he should -always- be the one carrying the puck into the zone for the first PP unit, and Kevin Fiala should -never- be the guy carrying the puck into the zone for a PP. In fact, Kevin Fiala should be the one in the bumper position, and nowhere near the blue line or creeping along the halfwall and back towards the point.

He will learn to show greater humility when the team is getting bulldozed. Youthful enthusiasm… veterans will counsel…
i'd rather youthful enthusiasm than 25 y/o PLD who scores (LOL jk) and looks completely dead inside. fiala and doughty cheer like dorks too. and byfield ran into the glass on accident. was funny. keep celebrating byfield!

I’ve been bullish on Byfield’s game from the start but even I was questioning the ceiling of his ability to score goals at the NHL level.

What a fool I was. Byfield already has 30 goal hands. Could he score 50 in the future? Why not? I’m almost convinced if you put him out there 22 minutes a night and you told him to get you 4 shots on goal every night he could very likely pot 50.

He's probably the most dominant and noticeable (in a positive way) player on the ice.

My comment was specific to a particular moment in a particular game with the Kings getting their asses handed to them. Why would I discourage any other totally appropriate celebrations?
