***Calgary Flames vs. LA Kings GDT 3/20/23 7:30pm on BSW***

One of the few times I agree with the broadcasting team that this is a truly dominant effort all the way to two minutes left in the game with the six goal lead

Remember at the All-Star Break when all the pundits were doubting the Kings playoff chances because they had a negative goal differential? They're going to be +28 since the break. I think that's pretty good.

Nothing like riding momentum into the playoffs. Seem to remember a SC year

They should have given one of the stars to Tonka!
Kings are finally making noise as a possible hard team to beat. NHL tonight had them top 5 and they talked a lot about Mikey being a underrated Dman.

That Kempe contract is starting to look like a real bargain. Another Rob Blake success... the front office has built an incredibly strong team. These guys can go a long way this year.

Kempe + Anderson + Danault + Fiala + Moore + Lizotte + Iafallo + Arvi.

Those are all STELLAR deals.

Not a team in the league that wouldn't take any of those players, on their current contract terms (cap permitting of course). That's saying A LOT about your GM and his ability to get contracts done.

Even Kopitar + Doughty are 100% earning their contracts right now. It's incredible.

YES!! Why did Grundy not get a Star of the Game?? Kopi was good, but Grundy had 2 goals!!

Congratulations to the following posters who correctly guessed Grundstrom to be credited with the final goal of the game:

Nobody came close to guessing the 6 goal differential, TooCool, dannbuoy1, and DRice were closest with guesses of 3.

Not sure what to say about that game other than it was a masterpiece. The flames aren't that bad but the kings sure made them look like it. The bad part is there's not a lot to do with that game other than take your well earned 4 days to keep working on things and get back at it since the Knights keep winning too. Seriously though aside from Gabe probably getting a concussion there wasn't much to pick at in the game.

So Blake's only current strike-against is the Cal Peterson contract. What the hey is going on down in Ontario. They are struggling mightily, and although I haven't followed the reasons, I'm guessing that Cal isn't earning his keep there either. Sad.

I'm certainly glad I had the option of watching the Calgary feed. No sign of video game nonsense there.

Until they get rid of the gimmicks, I am going to watch the away feed if available on Hulu/ESPN+. The added bonus is not having to listen to Faust.

Buy out candidate for sure. Cal needs to find another line of work.

That was the first time Calgary has given up 8 goals in 3 years. I watched the game on TV but it seemed like people's hands got sore and their voices got sore too. Not as much excitement and cheering on goals 7 and 8 :).

Actually, he's not necessarily a good buyout candidate. According to CapFriendly, should Cal get bought out this summer, he'd be on the books for 5.1 mil for 2023-24, and then 100k for 2024-25, then 1.1mil for 2025-26 then 1.1 mil for 2026-27. so bad for the short term, not bad for the rest.

If the Kings really decide that Cal isn't in the team's future, they might just have to suck it up and buy him out. With as many promising prospects that the Kings have, it would be hard to justify wasting a contract slot on him. On the other hand, considering that the Kings don't have a bona fide goalie prospect in the pipeline, it might be prudent to hang on to him.
