Well Nyssa got her points fest and I think most of the fanbase found reasons to engage with the roster even as depleted as it was. Maybe some would say that was a feature and not a bug. I'll admit the game flow looked much stronger even if there were the pushes in the game where the Ave's just dominated. Probably a function of the skaters getting regular shifts all game as opposed to the short benches we've become accustomed to. 22 games for this roster to do what it can and not assume anything sure sounds a whole lot more worth watching than a roster that "just needed to get into the tourney" and was assuming that first part.

If Booth plays more than 10 games, does he burn a year? If so, maybe that is the reason. I understand he has 9 games left if that is the case. Holland needs to showcase other players for potential trades?

And now they sent him back to Ontario. I just don't like that, not after a pretty good first game where he even scored a goal. I get it if it is to get Doughty back in the lineup, but not if it is for Moverare...
I'll grant you he looked pretty good. But let's be realistic with expectations. His goal was more of a tap-in and he had 2 premium goal opportunities where the didn't even shoot the puck. He wasn't wowing anyone in his debut so I'm fine if he goes back to Ontario for more seasoning and gets to play major minutes.

Booth will never be a big point collector but his positioning was pretty good for a rookie playing his first game vs the best team in the NHL. I liked his competitiveness and composure more than his goal.

And even on that goal scoring play he showed the confidence to rotate off the blue line and get himself into a prime scoring position. A less assertive player would’ve played that more safely and probably isn’t in the same spot to tap that goal in.

He’s of course no Cale Makar, but I still don’t like the signals it sends when they do a one-and-done like this.

We really need to find some diamonds in the rough and you’ll never find them if you don’t give the young players a fair chance. I mean, we know what we have in Moverare, would it been so bad to let Booth play at least a couple more games to give us a better idea of what we might have there?
