[Confirmed] Kings Trade 2022 1st-Round Pick + Brock Faber for Pending RFA Kevin Fiala

So weird to have a giant move this early in the offseason. I guess the draft will be a little anticlimactic now.

I think I like it. As much as I liked Faber, I'm ok with moving him and our 1st, and IF Fiala can replicate last season, then overall its a great deal for us now and longer term. Just not sure if last season was a one-off fluke or if he can really produce 30+ goals consistently for us. But he's a trigger man that I think will mesh well with Kopitar and Kempe on the 2nd line. And hopefully he gets PP1 time too.

I have no idea what we're doing in net. I'm not sold at all on Peterson, and while I love Quick and he's forever our #1 greatest goalie, this better be his last season.

Between Quick and Phaneuf's caphit coming off next year, thats nearly $7M freed up to figure out the next move / sign our FA's.

Need to figure out a LHD next.

Overall, I continue to like what I'm seeing from Blake.

This is robbery for Fiala! Master stroke by Blake.

1st rounder won't make an impact (if any) for 3-4 four years and Faber looks steady but low ceiling and it was looking like we might actually lose him!

Amazing deal. A+.

Faber is anything but low-ceiling, and no it wasn't looking like the Kings were going to lose him. It's still the right price though.

I hope this means that Iafallo is gone , if not then there will be even less minutes for the youngsters and I?m not sure that will work out well over the long term.

See now I see his use. Third line for the most part but can go
Up when there?s an injury for limited amount of time etc.

Exactly. We don’t have to fleece them to win the trade. Fabre should be good and Fiala should be. Win/win is fine when it addresses our glaring need.

All this fan-hate for Iafallo from the beer-leaguers despite the fact that the Kopi prefers to have him on his wing over anybody in the lineup. Let me guess: Kopitar doesn't know what he's talking about. Seriously you guys...wake up and smell the butt-hurt. Iafallo is the type of guy teams need and that's why the people who know what they're doing haven't traded him.

Some of you will never grasp the concept of character...guess what that says about you.

OK, now that I've addressed the nonsense in this thread, Fiala will be a great fit. He SHOULD bump Iafallo down the lineup, and will. Last year's numbers will be difficult to replicate, but who knows...his linemates weren't exactly elite in Minnesota. On the right line it's certainly plausible that he could stay in the same ballpark. This is a very good trade, especially for a mid-first in kind of a meh draft. Faber is the centerpiece going in the other direction though. They won't get a Faber with #19 in 2022.

Perhaps some GM will value him as greatly as you do and would request him as part of a trade package for a physical LD.

Nice to see you never change… thanks.

The biggest question regarding Fiala is how much of his success was Boldy. He's a top six player no question, but we don't want another Dmitri Khristich in this situation. The playoff performance questions are important. The fact that he's got multiple articles about how he needs to not worry about what the coaches want to play his best game should be sending anyone who saw Todd's comments attributed to Vilardi to the panic room. I do believe Blake has done his homework but this is absolutely high risk.

Fiala's style of play certainly doesn't line up with Kopitar's, and wasting nearly $8 mil per on an aggressive, attacking talent on a line that will get matched up in checking situations all night is NOT what this team needed to improve. Fiala will score in the 50s here playing to similar results as Moore and Arvidsson.

If they want to get better for the now, you address the blueline. If you want to contend, you take your lumps while the kids get better. This just fattens the middle of the roster while the weaknesses weren't addressed.

Oh, and Kaliyev now knows he has no shot at top 6 minutes for years to come. Gotta feel great to be a prospect here, maybe you can get a few 4th line minutes now and then if you don't ever make any mistakes. Hell you can get a good seat to watch both the Kings and Reign lose winnable series without playing. Again.

Imagine having the leagues best prospect pool and only generating a couple of 4th liners two years later.

Unfortunately. Blake never really embraced the rebuild, these kids are going to be used to race straight into the ol' blackhole, middle of the pack.

Guess you didn’t see the black hole team come one win away from going to the conference finals, WITHOUT Doughty.

And we’re not taking Byfield for a 32 year old center. We need to move assets off of our list. Too many, not enough roster spots.

He's overpriced for a third-liner, which is what he will be and where he really belongs.
