I think we definitely got a little better. Among other things, our special teams should improve, both PP and PK. The question is, did we optimize all that cap space we had? I think the answer there is no.

A vaguely remember a quote by Dean Lombardi after he signed a bunch of free agents the summer of 2007 something to the effect of if I’m signing a bunch of guys on July 1 I’ve failed.

100%. Signing one (maybe 2) of these guys would be a "hey, we're this one piece away from being competitive". Signing basically 4 of the same guys = we're dumpster fire.

Also, Florida and Edmonton do what they do because they lock up their top guys and then bring in Perry, Schmidt, and that ilk to $1M contracts to play on the bottom pairing/line and add size/character. You don't hand out bags and bags of money for those guys.

It comes down to whether I trust the world or the Kings PR machine on whether or not our free agency was good or a disaster. I'm going to side with the media and internet sentiments from people who aren't Kings fans and conclude that Holland made a mess.

Holland had enough sense to not run him again. He has been replaced by Armia.
