Fire Hiller

This thread is getting lots of support. I wouldn’t just include Hiller, but Blake & Luc as well. It’s one thing to get beat, it’s quite another when you beat yourself.

In previous playoffs, I begrudgingly accepted
that the Kings lost to a better Oilers team. But this year, I was certain this latest iteration was the one. The Oilers got older & slower on the wings, and their defense was suspect without Ekholm. The Kings record was better, both overall, and head-to-head, albeit to an injury-depleted Oilers group for half the season series. Even so, there was reason for me to confidently predict a Kings in 5 outcome.

Then it became clear that despite all mentioned above, Hiller just does not trust 75% of this team—the team that Blake & Luc built for him. Now, instead of winning in 5, they are probably going to lose in 6. And for this, all of their jobs should be at risk.

If they pull this out in 7, I will gladly eat these words. But it just doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen this year (again).

Fire them all and start over

Yes

I'm starting to think the only thing we had going for us this playoffs was Skinner in net.

Seems that way, but in the first few games the Kings pressured the Oilers and they were turning the puck over like crazy. Kings got a lot of really good looks and were scoring goals. The Oilers PK was awful as well. Oilers fixed their issues and have turned the series around. Kings are going to do what they have done, which is keep failing. I am afraid......

I am apathetic. Game 5 was truly sad.

Totally agree. The Oilers D is extremely prone to stupid giveaways when pressured. So what do we do? Eliminate the forecheck. Lay back at the redline. Even F1 is stopping at the blue line and retreating to the redline. I know it sounds crazy but maybe playing to win (and doing what was working) was a better choice than going into the hockey version of prevent defense.

It was simply infuriating watching us covering up in our own zone as the Oilers got a free pass out of their zone through the neutral zone to pound the crap out of us. Added to letting Kane get in Kuemper's face and jaw at him and not one King there to smack him in the mouth.

You're saying I have a chance?

Besides maybe fatigue (which I doubt), I don't understand how they START with the "prevent" defense after it loses them two games. I also don't get the swap from Turcotte to Lewis after the first 2 games, and all the sudden changes.
I think Hiller is using a Ouija board...or maybe even a dart board...to make his decisions. And most of them have backfired miserably. He's really putting on a coaching clinic called "How not to win hockey games"

....and yet there is a thread on the front page titled:

Rob Blake Should Win GM Of The Year

You really can't make this stuff up!

When are Kings fans going to learn?
I mentioned in that thread that Blake isn't my GM of the year candidate, although he did bring himself back near neutral for me with some good moves this year. That being said, I don't blame him for this post season, unless we're blaming him for Hiller.

I blame Hiller. 1,000 times Hiller. His terrible decision to challenge gave away a game, and his player management has given away two more. I lay pretty much everything at his feet, especially considering his lack of adjustments in game 5, the worst game in the series.
