I doubt Chicago are contenders, they're still a top goalie, winger, and 2 d-man away from becoming true Cup contenders.
Nashville may be able to contend, despite their old age in their roster.

The comments on Vegas news sites in regards to so many roster players signing elsewhere are hilarious. Everyone is trashing management for getting rid of the players, cause Vegas fans obviously know how free agency works.

Yes, but they are a formality. They have to be given QO's or I think they become UFA's. So, teams give out QO's before 7/1, then negotiate/sign the deal later. As S4Deano said, it becomes the basement offer if it gets that ugly.
I think there is a formula for what the minimum QO can be for a given to a player. Varies depending on previous contract, I think......

All good though. I read this somewhere else, but the Kings have no issues getting through the Oilers in the playoffs next year. They are not even going to make it in.

Today was Blake doubling down on the game plan that’s lost to the Oilers in the first round 3 times in a row. He believes the team needed more size and physicality to win those series.
My question is what happens if Kuemper and Rittich don’t have a season as good as Talbot and Rittich had this past season? Things could get really ugly next season.
Then the Kings will be looking for a new GM.

It's a bit of a mixed bag.
Edmundson is a little better than Englund, except for that awful contract.
Foegele is a little worse than Arvidsson, but he isn't one more back injury away from retirement.
Clarke is worse than Roy, but there is that cap savings and Clarke's offensive upside. Will be better in time.
Jeanott is a big upgrade over Lizotte.
Lewis is Lewis, so that is a wash.
Kuemper and Talbot are likely a wash, again except for that awful contract.
No PLD, so I guess we declare victory?
