For what it's worth, I show us as having about $18.3 million in cap space, with Byfield and Spence still to re-sign. That's assuming Englund in the 7th dman, not Burroughs or Moverare, and Turcotte, Thomas, Clarke and one of Lee or Fagemo making the roster. That's 17 players signed so far.

I'm not too much into the cap stuff I just know to yell "SHOOT IT!", but I saw some random articles saying to snag Byfield long term at $8+ million which I thought was absurd expensive though he's better than the last guy we got at $8.5.

Toffoli is a known commodity and I have no problem with him.
Perron is 36 and I just don’t know what’s left in the tank. But he’s a better player than I once gave him credit for. I do have concerns about any player who has played for team after team after team. Generally not a good sign.
36 years old. Always on a new team. No thanks.

Which means Blake will sign him to a 5 year 70 million dollar deal.

Per the Mayor, Lizotte and Tyler Madden aren't being qualified. Both had arbitration rights. Both could still return. Similar to when they didn't qualify Lemieux and then signed him.

I'm fine with Lizotte as the 13th or 14th forward, but nothing else.

Kaliyev is being qualified, but it doesn't mean he's staying.

I can't imagine Kaliyev staying with his uhh, minutes last year. They clearly have a problem with him (and I believe he publicly asked for a trade? maybe I'm imagining that).

There is no reason to waste money on any of those three. Madden had all the promise. So much so that Canucks fans lost their mind when they traded him here.

I was hoping that this year, Mitchrock would finally hit FA.

But that monkey's contract will outlast us all, haha. :crazymonkey:

I'd still like to see us either trade Kaliyev to NYR for Kakko or to Pitts for Pickering. I think Kaliyev would excel with either of the two teams and either Kakko (bottom 6 wing) or Pickering (puck moving LD) would help fill some holes on our team.

FA sometimes feels like Christmas is coming. And it still does, but with Blake at the helm, it feels like we are being visited by Krampus instead of Santa Claus, lol. :yikes:

I just don't see Kaliyev having that much value. I do like the idea of getting a player instead of a pick, and we probably get the best chance of a good return by trading him for a promising prospect.
