Funny to see all the lowballs everyone was throwing around. You guys are out of your mind thinking he was gonna sign for 4-5 mill per. This will give us 3 extra mill, plus whatever the cap increase represents. With no ELC rookies in position to angle for a high end RFA bridge deal, since they are all pretty much creeping along in terms of development, we will have ample cap space to sign a serious goalie, if that’s what management deems the proper course. As for those predicting retirement.. was that tongue in cheek?Surprised by all of the low yearly AAV’s being offered up so far, especially given the projected rise to the salary cap. I’m thinking around 7.5mill x 2 years, or possibly 6.5 mill x 3 seasons
This is the site that went into a deep analysis about Kopitar having sleep apnea. They aren't the best but dammit do we love them.Funny to see all the lowballs everyone was throwing around. If someone were to give QB a big RFA offer sheet, Blake MIGHT be tempted to take the compensation, depending on how big the offer is.Tying off the Kopi loose end gives Blake a chance to focus on whether to re-sign Roy, Arvidsson, Lizotte and Grundstrom. If more cap space is needed, Moore’s NTC ends after next season. Lastly Byfield and Kaliyev are both RFAs.
It’s the exact opposite. Multi-year contracts signed at 35+ mean his cap hit will remain in place for the entirety of that contract regardless if he plays or retires. In local media they claimed that as he will be a 35+ veteran for the entire duration of this contract, it doesn't count against the cap at all...that has got to be false information, right?
EDIT: Surely false, no idea where they got that idea from.
These terms make total sense. Even though his cap hit was $10 million, his salary for the last year was $7. And it seems like he’s got at least 2 years in him. To me it didn’t make sense that he’d take a huge discount like everyone else thought. He was still very productive last season. So maybe he wouldn’t get $10 million but it wasn’t going to be less than $6.
I should add that it’s not selfish and all for him not to take a huge discount. He deserves the salary that he’s going to get.
I didn’t think I’d have to say million. He only got paid $7 last year? Hell we could have a whip round and double that this year for poor old Anze!
I mean come on, get real Blakey!!!!
And I didn't think I'd have to say I was kidding either...I didn’t think I’d have to say million.
