Hiller Hotseat Thread

~3 highly essential core pieces. They were fortunate, however, to pull in other key pieces either early in their careers, through waiver wire reclamation projects, or by winning big (essentially unicorns) in the trade market.

That said, it is safe to say a main factor in Florida's success has been development, even if the talent was not always initially home grown.

Reality is that most teams who go on multi-year Stanely Cup runs hit the jackpot, on average, twice in the draft to set them up for that success and then get fortunate in free agency while drafting additional
strong role players.

Examples: Detroit, (Yzerman/Federov, Datsyuk/Zetterberg), Chicago (Toews/Kane), PItts (Lemieux/Jagr, Crosby/Malkin), Colorado (Sakic/*Forsberg, MacKinnon/Makar), Kings (Kopitar/Quick), etc.
Can we talk about Detroit for a half-second? Dude. They've got a freaking culture and a team. Holy Shiz. The one game I watched it was like premiere league match. Fans singing Mr. Brightside for some reason and then staying after the game for a fifty year old Journey song because the want to scream "SOUTH DETROIT"...bananas. Oh, and their team has missed the playoffs how many years in a row?

I know, I know it's hockey town but this is what Luc wanted to do. Guaranteed.

Even Helene is tired of this mess. These are a few words from her substack post.

"Enough is too much. It's time for the Kings to fire coach Jim Hiller."

"An ugly defensive collapse against Tampa Bay in the third period of a 5-3 loss on Thursday should be the final straw for an unimaginative, out-of-his-depth coach whose team is in a 2-6-2 swoon."
Call me when she tells us who Hiller is being replaced with…..oh yah, that’s the other part of the equation.

We’ve watched Hiller coach 155 regular season games and 11 postseason games. Regardless of win loss record, does anybody consider Hiller a coach who makes a positive impact on his team?

I sure as hell don’t. I’ve seen enough.
Rob did.
Luc agrees.

The front office backed this guy, even after his horrific failure in the playoffs.

They backed him so much so that they threw Rob under the bus to keep him.

Imagine a front office of two guys. Guy one and two. Guy one and two agree together to hire third guy because they love him so much.

Third guy goes on to fail so epically at his job.

Guy one looks at guy two after third guy does a horrible job and says: “Third guy is doing a horrible job. I wanna keep him, but you’re fired.

Makes no sense.

Kings fans: This is how your front office conducts business.

Stop giving them your money.

I have always felt the team won in spite of Hiller. But I think the bad leadership, the bad decisions and the bad attitude from the coach has finally worn the guys down. Watching them last game I saw a spiritually defeated team.

I'm feeling it might be a total of 20 years between playoff series wins for the Kings. 2014 and hopefully they win again in 2034. I'm not getting any younger Kings.

Every time I think about sports I find myself being grateful we got to experience this team go from the worst in the league to the best and stay there for 3 seasons. Whatever else happens is gravy.

But I’d still like to see them win again at some point…
