FA’s get screwed by the highest tax rate in the US for ‘millionaires’. WTH would they want to come here and deal with losing income that they could be keeping in another state?
It’s the same argument from years ago about the $CAD vs $USD. Players were paid the same numerical amount, but the $USD had more value. So playing in Canada meant potentially losing money they could be making playing for a US team.
Different currency shouldn't matter. Cap is defined in USD, which you then convert to CAD for paying the player in an exchange rate that applies at the time of transaction. The player could then convert it to USD or Swedish Krona or Rubles or whatever...
But cap defines a gross salary, so local tax laws DO matter.
