How many games for Nurse?

What should he get and what he will get…
Your comment about 7 is the correct answer. But I have little faith in the Department of Player Safety.

A repeat offender who goes after a defenseless player is the most inexcusable offense. I think he should be out for the entire first round.
My hunch is at most he will get two or three games.

A few thoughts on the game itself with regard to the Oilers behavior …

I don’t know if Danault is right about the B team trying to hurt the Kings players. We are too far removed and can’t possibly know what the strategy was.

I did find it a bit interesting watching “who” the targets were. Obviously Danault took some hits early (although he was not at all shy about doing some hitting himself), Perry went after QB behind the net and of course Nurse going after him, and Clarke was getting a lot of attention.

Was there a concerted effort to go after the Kings Center depth? Was there an effort to go after the Kings Defensive depth (or test Clarke and his ability to handle the physical play)?

I did not like the goon strategy from the Oilers that seemed clear. Was it the strategy or did it just happen? If it was strategy was it also connected to having McDavid, Draisital and Hyman off the ice?

This type of behavior is not good for the game. Dirty play and cheap shots are unacceptable. I did feel things were better in the third period with less nonsense. But I also wondered about the Oilers coaching staff.
The first two periods were not good. Were the coaches OK with it, or were they unable to control it?

I think it was interesting that Hiller was pretty unresponsive post-game. I think it was wise to not speak out. I also give the Kings credit for not getting caught up in the dirty play. That was strong coaching in my opinion.

We will see what the suspension decision is. I want a statement from the NHL about this type of play.
I also don’t know how much it means for the series. Nurse isn’t much of a player. Are the Oilers better with or without him in the lineup?
You're right in that it should be the first round of the playoffs, but likely he gets a 1-2 playoff game suspension. He has a history of going for the head and that was clear intent to injure (maybe he could argue it was intent to intimidate but every concussion I have had from hockey has come from the back of the head so, to me, this seems like intent to injure). This also isn't the first time he has gone after Byfield.

As to Danault stating the Oilers were out to injure them, I don't see Danault making a statement like that and taking it lightly. I speculated prior to the game this would happen as it is Edmonton's MO, and sure enough it played out that way. It's not coincidence that they were targeting young skilled players on the Kings.

This is really a series where we need Jannot and Edmundson in the lineup. Thank goodness for the addition of Foegele who can't be pushed around. The Kings definitely need to push back, come playoff time, or they will be run over.

I think this is right.
I noticed a lot of hits the Oilers made seemed high and definitely seemed to target the back of the head. Hard to think this was just coincidental when it was various players doing it. The Oilers went headhunting last night.

I heard both Fox and Evans say they think it’s one playoff game. Whether that is how they feel, what they think the NHL will do, or expectation-setting for fans I can’t say.

What I saw with Nurse was a deliberate attempt to drive a defenseless players head into the ice. That he is also a known commodity in his tendency to go over line “should” be part of the suspension.

While we can’t hold the one player accountable for how the rest of the team behaved, it did seem there was a concerted effort by the Oilers to play dirty last night, way beyond what is acceptable.
It goes back to wondering why?
If we knew this was a deliberate attempt to injure Kings players, I can’t find the correct words.
That Danault essentially said so much, it’s hard for me to believe the NHL can ignore the larger picture. I don’t find it easy to dismiss Danauits comment.

I agree, this was no surprise. I was concerned enough to state that I hoped the Kings could get out of that game without injuries.
I am very disappointed in Knoblock. No coach can put his team on the ice or field with that degree of recklessness, and the fact he allowed it to go on for two full periods is inexcusable. That was shameful coaching.
On the other hand, I really credit Hiller for controlling his team. That’s what a Coach should do.

Of course Perry justified all of it. Genuine pos human.

"What do you want us to do?" said Perry. "Did he not look at what's happened over the last couple weeks? Like, what do you want us to do? We're not out there to hurt anybody."

I dunno, maybe try and make hockey plays, defend and create chances?

Perry is a POS but at least he didn't lie. Sad thing is he feels no need to hide it as both he, and his team, know the NHL won't do anything about it.

QB is the best center to go up against McJesus. Only one that can keep up with him.
I love the idea of Kopi’s line vs RNH’s line and Danault’s line vs Janmark or Henrique’s line.

Kings cannot just hold serve 5v5 they will have to dominate the 5v5 TOI to win this series.
