If not Hillier, then who?

It’s going to be Hiller for three, best be getting on board. I’m excited to see what he can do with a full camp under his belt and implementing his system.

Rob will make the easy choice, and go for the low hanging fruit....it's what he has always done when it comes to hiring coaches. Anything different than that means the FO is actually changing the way they have been operating for a decade.

Well...the team generally played well under Hiller. Let's give him a full season chance, shall we?

It's not like this team is super loaded with talent and vastly underperforming.

It's not like many coaches with Cup pedigree are available and willing to sign with the Kings.

It's not like coaches without Cup pedigree will never win a Cup...which is true for all of them - Hiller and others that could've replaced him.

You might not agree with the choice, you may have a personal preference regarding the other coaches but Hiller is the least of this team's problems at the moment...

I don't disagree.
I just stated the obvious, and how Rob has operates. He makes the low-risk, easy (for him) choice when it comes to coaching.
Other people were throwing other coaches out there into the mix, and I just stated that Rob does not work that way.

The real stinger in your response:
It's not like many coaches with Cup pedigree are available and willing to sign with the Kings.

A decade with Rob at the helm, and the Kings are in no position to attract a coach with Cup pedigree bonafides.
Tells you a lot about how this GM has been running the place.

Rob will continue to play coach roulette, and hire yet another coach.

Same as it ever was......

In addition (i mentioned this elsewhere), thought chief would take the leafs helm w the core that he can work with.

That said, to ur point we do not and are not close enough to attract the pedigree for a coach. However one can argue u need fresh ideas at this point to get pl going. Torts didn't work. Bowness either. Tmac.

With this roster and cap limits, hiller will be the next coach. Unless there is an up and comer. Really be surprised if this is not the case.

but, never say never.

Todd was so supposed to be the coach next year. One year extension to match Rob’s final contracted year. I’d love Gallant more than any other coach and it pains me to think Kings are missing his window, but Hiller is the right call given the circumstances.

Came across this video while doing some research. Just thought it was interesting to revisit.

Wealth mining and league experience doesnt translate to prospect development and drafting.

May be a natural leader, but a really good leader knows who to listen to. Trust issues with scouting staff?

I appreciate this is just an interest piece, however, while Mr. Lombardi's judgment undoubtedly, at that time, justified Rob Blake's promotion to Assistant GM, upon ultimately becoming GM, there were many expectations of Rob Blake. With the benefit now of his time in the position and looking, in my opinion most crucially, at the performance of the team, post-season, having been yet again, with no real improvement whatsoever on last year, handed their arses by the same team, the question on my mind is have enough of those expectations been realised to justify continued faith in the future under Rob Blake's guidance? For that most critical reason alone, I am unable to believe that they have.

There’s always an ego involved with any executive role. Look at what Hextall did in Philly. By every account he overruled his scouts in the 2017 draft and took Nolan Patrick over Cale Makar. At least one blogger has said Blake overruled his scouts in taking Turcotte over Zegras.

Ego or trust issues or whatever. Characteristics that are not of a true leader.

I’ll second Bylsma. He’s taken the Firebirds on a cup run again for the second time in as many years. I live out here and see the Firebirds regularly. Give Stoli a chance at Ont. with the young bloods.

This is right.
I do not understand the negativity with Hiller. It’s not like there is a lot of info on him. He did fine in a difficult situation.
I suspect we still have lots of people who just want to be angry about everything with the Kings. At some point it will calm down.

Re Hiller, I keep thinking that he has a big upside. And it would be a missed opportunity to not find out.

The Kings have far bigger problems than Hiller. That’s where people should be focusing.

I like how you think. I'm excited about what Hiller brings to the team and looking forward to some new and fresh ideas.

Congratulations to you, Coach Hiller. I look forward to seeing how your vision for this team is going to manifest itself on the ice. Hopefully, Blake & Co give you the leeway to do so
