It’s deadline season!

Just a little reminder of some of the moves our GM has made. Traded Spence and signed Ceci. One ranks 2nd in +/- on his team, the other 22nd.

Kings offense has been suffering all year. Moving one of the better puck moving D was not a good move IMO.

"Following Seravalli’s report, ESPN’s Kevin Weekes indicated that Parayko would prefer to stay in the Western Conference. Weekes specifically mentioned the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings, though neither club has any known interest in adding another defenseman."

Yeah. Cause our defense is already rock solid. Got it.
Parayko is better than Ceci and Dumoulin and the Kings need to shore up their defense. His contract still has four years left with a cap hit of 6.5. It’s a bit steep. But I do think it would be somewhat of an upgrade. Not a proponent of it exactly but I guess I could live with it depending on the cost.

Yeah it was silly for sure. Moving a jack of all trade D (Spence) for a one dimensional D (Ceci) was bad from the start.

Ceci is likely more impactful come playoff time, however. Kings just got ahead of themselves.

Torn if we retool, load up the weapons to save the season or sell ? Foegle to Ott still has me unsure ? The 2nd round pick to rebuild or apart of a bigger trade ?

The impetus was Hiller as he benched him in the playoffs, and gave Ken feedback.
Just like Gav, Hiller pissed guys off.
And he's gone so it was all for naught.
Danault too and seemed like Foegle too.
The Kings are a freaking mess.
Acquired Pan and now selling, thank God.
This year was just plain painful as they were in and fell out now the other teams have taken their place in the playoffs.

Eric Stephens reported in The Athletic that Foegele requested a trade. Awesome job, Hiller!

Firing Hiller was indeed not a fix for this season. It was removing the cancer.

Do the Kings go for this guy? Terrible assessment:

The Kings gotta roll the dice on something. Otherwise it is sucking for the rest of the decade. We're seeing his floor. The hope is he bounces back to a point per game player and then the Kings can bring in some free agent talent.

Otherwise it is going to be pretty gloomy with Kopi retired, an old immobile defense, and no good forward prospects in the pipeline. I don't know how AEG sells tickets to that. To the south there's Carlsson, Sennecke, Gauthier, and a defense full of promising kids. To the north there's Celebrini, Smith, Misa, and Sam Dickinson as a new core.

It's weird, but after watching the full interview I really hope the Kings pick Pettersson up while his value is so low. If anyone is in need of a change in atmosphere, it's Pettersson and even if he does not get back to a point per game pace he moves this roster forward quite a bit (especially in the absence of Kopi next season).

The Anaheim Ducks have completed a trade with the Washington Capitals for defenceman John Carlson, the team announced on Friday.

The Capitals are receiving a conditional first-round pick in either the 2026 NHL Draft or the 2027 NHL Draft and a third-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft in exchange for Carlson.
