Lot of nothing and if it was this simple they'd have a deal already. Hard to tell who is posturing over what but good luck attracting UFA's when you won't even pay your won players Holland.

There’s also always the option that he just doesn’t want to play in LA anymore. It may have little to do with money and term. I guess we’ll see.

No longer chasing championships, more interested in bean counting and fleecing the fans for $$$.

Both teams entered into Coach roulette and GM roulette.
Both teams making bone headed signings by poorly qualified GMs.
Both teams winning ZERO since 2014.
Coincidence?

Timmy would have thrown out the front office trash, but Danny B keeps everyone in place.

However Galaxy did win an MLS Cup last season (their sixth).
Fans finally boycotted the club, and forced the complete firing of the front office, and a new "outside" GM brought in to run the show.

(Sidebar this year they are a mess due to their star getting a season ending injury, combined with asinine MLS league rules that forced them to have a fire sale and gut the core of the team due to salary cap rules)

So long as fans keep giving the team money for mediocrity, Danny B. and Luc will be content to stay the course. Low risk, and it keeps the club as close to being in the black as possible year over year.

Thanks, I enjoy the discussion. I certainly don’t love having Luc this involved in team building. Galaxy is an important word to me too, and also something I’ve repeated, as in Galaxy Brain Luc.

My contention with your angle is where your placing the lionshare of the blame. Tim L was here for Dave Taylor also. The success of the past was about Dean. Which brings me to:

So yes, getting fortunate bounces is incredibly important and impossible to predict but icing a team that is deeper than your opponent and better coached is something a front office absolutely can control.

I think it’s a clearer picture to talk about Blake just not being good enough as GM than it is to talk about ownership somehow not caring enough about “building a winner.” Blake had no cap constraints placed on him and seemingly a green light to do as he pleased, including an albeit abbreviated rebuild which ownership groups league-wide hate. San Jose went kicking and screaming into theirs.

Also not a stroke of luck for the teams you mentioned but as elsewhere stated here there is luck in a rebuild re: who’s available. COL had McKinnon and Makar available. We know EDM’s story. NYR “lucked” into Lafreniere and Kappo with their high choices. DAL however is one of the most brilliantly constructed rosters in the league.

While we agree and disagree on some points, I think we both agree on Blake failing upwards to the GM spot.

However it is ownership/management that allowed that.
They also allowed him to make poor player/roster decisions, and continued to allow him to play coach roulette when the team continued to fail under his leadership.

There is a ton of importance on the GM & President.
However, the buck does stop at the top.
When a team treads water in mediocrity for a decade, it really does point to ownership.

Who knows. Whatever the reason, GM Potato has been replaced by a different spud and the franchise is right back to needing high draft picks.
