I like the Boesser and Samsonov pickup. Ideally we would reduce the term (5 years or less) and AAV (in the $7m range) for Boesser, though.

No way to Perry. Gavrikov I do not think will age well over the span of 7 years. Ceci I'm not super keen on as being much of an upgrade worthy of 5 years, but perhaps I just don't know enough about him (still that would keep him under contract until 36 which seems too long).

I actually kinda like this. Ceci on the bottom pairing is not a terrible option. He will get trucked a few times a season, but you only need him for 12 minutes a night, and he’s the 5th option on the PK at that point,

Jeannot not getting a contract elsewhere and coming back for $2M would be the icing on the cake.

Is that worth $4m AAV for 5 years though? Again I don't know a ton about him so I am genuinely just asking.

Totally agree on Jeannot, I really hope it turns out that he comes back. He would have made a difference, had he been healthy playoff time.

He only comes back at a discount. No way we can fit him otherwise.

My guess is he isn’t going to get a super long term, and not the same $$$ from his last contract.

My thinking is the extra term is what it’ll take to get these guys to sign in LA.

I stopped reading at "Perry". I get his value to a team, I just don't want him on mine.
The only way to get Hiller to play the 4th line is to put at least one vet down there. If not Perry it’ll take some other old gray beard to force Hiller’s hand.

Morning rumor mill is churning.

Dreger says LA and Vegas are in on Bowen Byram

Friedman says Kings have interest in Ramus Anderson, Brock Boesser, Rackell and Rust.

Would be great to land 2 of these three, even if we miss out on Marner (which seems likely).

I would also like to see the Kings consider Granlund and Klingberg (though neither are great from a size perspective).

One of my biggest concerns is Kempe. If the Kings don't improve significantly, what's the incentive to sign in LA when you can get as much money playing for a contender.

If Kempe walks it’s a 5 alarm fire. We’re looking at a full house cleaning and rebuild.
Yep, it's a far more pivotal time for this team because of this IMO. The next 3-4 days could be incredibly telling as to how this season will unfold and what the future of the franchise will be. Additionally, AEG has to start being very concerned if the offseason falls flat...assuming fans vote with their wallets and stay away from Crypto. I liken it to the who Disneyland ticket price thing out here. Prices increase, the value diminishes for a myriad of reasons, fans complain, parks are packed. There is no incentive for Disney to do anything until people stop showing up. As long as there is a mostly full arena, what is the incentive to do anything more to fix the situation?

The thing with Kempe is he’s said it multiple times that he wants to be here and is very happy playing in LA. So at the end of the day you can always overpay him on a max length deal to keep him.

If Holland strikes out in free agency and the trade market continues to stay soft then he has no other option than to blow Kempe away with a Kopitar/Doughty like extension. 12M X 8 years is the total dollar equivalent to about 11.7M X 7 years in a no income tax state. No other team is going to pay Kempe 12M a year as a free agent.

Instead of Marner, let’s go all in with Kings going hard for Kadri, Rasmus Andersson, and Byrum in trade, then sign Marchand at all costs.

If you need to make the money work, probably Danault has to go, which sucks but Kadri is a hard nosed player with way more offensive upside to slot in at 3C behind Kopi and QB(or push Kopi down to a very favorable 3C spot). I realize the trade costs would be high(Turcotte, Clarke, Greentree, one of our goalie prospects, lots of 1st round picks), but with this team’s regular season acumen, and subsequent crumbling in the playoffs, NOW is the time to seize a chance to win another Cup or two. A team led by Byfield and Clarke 3-4 years from now will be an absolute middle of the road club, especially if guys like Kempe and Fiala check out. The cap is projected to rise wildly in the next 2-3 years, so now is also an optimal time to grab players in their prime, and worry about how to make the money work later.

We desperately need bite and aggression that guys like Kadri and Marchand bring. Plus more puck moving skill out of the backend, so if Mikey Anderson needs to go, in order to replace him with one of the above defenders, I’m open to that as well.

For those who would cry about stripping the cupboards bare, my take is that once Kopitar and Doughty are done, this team is way overdue for a true, scorched earth rebuild. Unless we see actual results from Byfield and Clarke this season as true All Star type players, you’re just clinging to the illusion of hope that these guys are actual 1st line/top pairing players, and not foundational building blocks for a championship team
