You guys haven’t been paying attention. Marek noted two weeks ago on the 32 Thoughts of HNIC that Korposalo was going to get moved and probably to LAK. He’s been the best goalie in the NHL since returning from injury in December according to advanced analytics.

Man, I am okay with Quickie not being a King, but at the end of the season. He should have had that contract play out.

Imagine being in Winnipeg, find out you are traded to Columbus, and riding on that same plane back home.

I hope that holds true once he joins the Kings but if it does then he’s probably ends up being too expensive to retain.

Awful trade. I don't understand a first for 2 rentals. A so-so goalie and the fools gold of defensemen.

This is Sekera 2.0

Dennis Bernstein, to me on Twitter:

if we're being honest about performances, it's not a marginal upgrade but a necessary one.
How did they perform v NJD/NYR/WPG on back end?

Can Quick retire? Does he have to report? Genuine question.

Pretty sure Quick feels like he can still go. I don't think he ever said a word about retiring either unless I missed it. I can see him suiting up to play with the BJs and doing whatever he can there to help him secure his next contract.

I hate you Rob Blake.

You do this kind of trade if you're in the positions like teams such as Toronto, Boston, and Edmonton where their Stanley Cup window is NOW. Kings are not in that kind of position.

Well, trying to see light in a dark situation...

1.) Korpisalo has been good this year. Significantly better than any of the goalies on the Kings, including Copley (who was still "good enough" to bring the Kings to the playoffs, barring any significant injuries). And he did have a spectacular payoff campaign in 2019-20...9 games and .941 SV% after a .911 SV% in reg. season, so it seems he CAN elevate his game for PO. This will now probably become a 1A/1B situation that's significantly better than what the Kings had before.
Though it's true he had quite a few underwhelming seasons. He seems very up and down regarding his yearly form...on a plus side - he's probably not going to cost a lot to resign unless he leads the Kings to a Cup final (which I guess makes it worth all of this even if he walks?).

2.) If Rob recycles some prospects for a 1st rounder and at least ONE of the incoming assets is resigned I would worry too much about trading the 1st in itself. If he doesn't trade some of the prospects...it's a head scratcher for sure, especially considering the surplus the Kings have. He needs to focus on quality over quantity, which practically begs for him to trade quantity for a 1st to a team that's severely lacking prospect depth.

3.) Quick...what can I say, it's baffling they would trade him. I guess he now regrets not getting at least a NTC. That being said...maybe they offered him the option of going down to the minors seeing how they simply can't afford having a roster spot for him and he refused (by not wanting to be with Ontario and/or not wanting to risk being claimed by some xy team)? I mean, maybe he held the team "hostage" in this situation and Rob responded like this...who knows.
Maybe he's not furious with Rob but more so with the whole situation? Him not being able to find his game and putting the Kings in quite a pickle because of it. I can see a situation where he agreed to be traded to CBJ instead of, let's say, Arizona, or being put on waivers and sent to minors/getting claimed by whoever. Of course he's not happy...he shouldn't be happy even without a trade. Yes...he should understand that NHL is also a business and with all he has done for the Kings it would probably be as unfair as this trade is if he held the team hostage for the entire season and likely causing them to finish worse because of it.

4.) Gavrikov is what worries me the most here. He's had 1 really good season so far and is by most accounts "not elite". I'd better understand making so much drama with Quick if the return was Chychrun...
