Cool flick, Adgy! Different than expected and really enjoyed it.

Overall a bad movie but it almost works. The first half of the flick is filled with some really funny lines but the weight of the inane plot takes over in the second half and made time drag.

The Good: Don Ready as played by Jeremy Piven by way of Ari Gold. Piven shines, as usual. He's got the best lines, the best scenes and the only character that tries to have depth. If you're a fan of Piven or Ari Gold, you'll like him in this role.

The Bad: The story. To be blunt, it stinks. Old man is going to lose his car lot if he doesn't sell every car in the inventory. Calls up outside help in the form of Don Ready and his band of merry men to save the day. ***SPOILER ALERT*** They do.

The Ugly: There's a scene near the end of the flick between Piven and Ed Helms where the Director(Neal Brennan of Chapelle Show fame) decided to have his D.P. try to pull off a series of Push/Pulls that were so unnecessary and crow-barred into the scene that I couldn't help but laugh and their audacity of hope that they could make it work. It didn't.

The Love Guru is available on Netflix Instant Streaming so I'm giving it a shot. I'm 12 minutes in and I've had more laughs during a root canal.

Rarely do I ever fail to finish a movie I've started. Today, I threw in the sponge at the 25 minute mark . It was shockingly bad. The only thing that kept me in that long was the NHL tie-in gimmick. Whoa.

yeah... and along the way i realized something... not a fan of the Mike Meyers, really.

i think i was done by that 3rd Austin Powers movie.

Please...Spy who Shagged me and Goldmember were both stoopid awesome flicks. Still think Austin Powers is the weakest character in those movies. If MM could make nothing more than multi-character Austin Power films I would love him forever.

After the first movie I thought they should have gone straight to the James Bond bag of tricks and recast Austin Powers.

i didn't like Goldmember.

that'd been interesting.

that'd been interesting.

and I thought they should have kept Myers as Dr. Evil. I just thought... the one gag they never mined from the world of James Bond was casting a different actor.

I suppose it's not too late.

[interrupting the debate to say...]

I watched Marie Antoinette last night.

It was interesting in the beginning, I liked the costuming and the overall feeling of opulence. The use of modern music in the film was also an interesting touch. However, the movie seemed to slow and get boring towards the end and I was disappointed how it ended. (I wanted to see some beheading!)

Kirsten Dunst was ok in it, she wasn't bad or spectacular. She seemed cheeky, like when she was in Bring It On.

Professionally she's grown up blessed and cursed by the same thing: she's Kirsten.

Maybe too unique to be an effective actress right now, but doesn't matter to me at least. That beautiful, fox-like and equally angelic/demonic face with the slyly cute and disarmingly fangy smile has me generally too smitten to recognize the character anyway. Wasn't always like that.

Either I've become helplessly blinded by lovelust or she's just not good enough to act her way out from under herself. Or both?

I think it depends on the role. I think she did a good job being frosty in How to Lose Friends and Alienate People or whatever that Simon Pegg movie was called. My favorite movie of hers is Drop Dead Gorgeous. :)
