Phil Danault - Called in Sick against the Flames? Asked for a trade? UPDATE: TRADED

The only problem with Schenn is that he's not exactly stellar offensively this season. 14 in 38 with 16+TOI. He'd get from one offensively challenged team to another. Doesn't scream like "I'm fixing your team's offensive woes as yoir 3nd line center".

If we're to overpay for someone, I'd rather it be O'Reilly or maybe even Stamkos...

I think we need to come to the understanding that while Luc is in charge and Hiller is the coach, offensive stats don’t matter. Management has an archetype in mind and if the player meets their criteria stats are almost irrelevant.

O'Rielly I can't argue with, he's good, consistent and probably has a few seasons left. Schenn, though, would just be lunicy to pay high for (makes sense for a team planning to make a deep playoff run which lacks vet leadership, but not for the Kings).

I agree that I'd also rather see Stamkos coming over - a proven goal scorer who also has vet experience. Nashville would have to eat a good portion of his contract, however.

Nashville is pushing for a playoff spot, though, so right now I do not see why they would trade either unless the return is too good to be true.

Found this stat compilation on another board and thought that I would share. There is more to it than just Danault's play, but......

I appreciate this. Kings have looked better without him. It’s allowed Turcotte to produce and has forced Hiller to distribute ice time a little better.

Speculation wise, it’s possible he was unhappy enough it was creating a drag on the team. Plenty of other problems but eliminating a significant one can lead to a noticeable improvement.

I’m going to pile on here and add that this team does look better without him. Or rather, because of additional opportunity for Turcotte. It really changes the complexion of game play. Kopitar being out also seems to have an influence on things.. and I’m not quite sure yet, but I might be wiling to go as far as saying it’s also a positive to have him out of the lineup. Now, if only Byfield would step up and play like he has over a few scant stretches during his 300 game NHL tenure, but do so CONSISTENTLY, we might be looking like a team that’s truly ready to turn the page.

I am not sure everyone noticed what the stats were pointing out. This teams GA has gone to crap with Danault gone and the Habs has improved since his arrival.

Also, this team is 4-5-1 in its last 10. In about 30 minutes that will turn into 3-6-1. I get that the team has been energized and is pressuring / forechecking better of late. The results just are not there though.

I would like to see a young up and coming coach take over the Kings. Start the rebuild during the trade deadline and make sure teams overpay. During the offseason trade as many players as they can. Need lots of draft picks and pick up a few UFA's that will sign for a year maybe two and then trade them at next seasons deadline.

If there's any year that's good for seller it's this one. It ain't happening though...

Do you think Phil is any happier in Montreal? After 15 games, he’s only averaging 15:50 TOI per game, with as little as 11 mins and 13:20 TOI in two of the last 5 games. By comparison, he averaged 18 mins TOI during his 4 full seasons in LA..

Well, at least he is home.
