Phil Danault - Called in Sick against the Flames? Asked for a trade? UPDATE: TRADED

My point for asking the question was this. Since he’s not getting more ice time, was it really an ‘on ice’ problem he had with Kings/organization, or was this just a homesick player wanting to go back to Quebec?
I suspect it was initially on-ice and may have then become a homesick issue by the end.
I couldn’t really fault the hurt feelings about less ice time. Danault was the Kings best player in the playoff series. His reward was getting a lesser role. All players are susceptible to feeling diminished.
The problem was trying to increase Byfields role but also not grasping that Kopi had hit the wall.
As I said I can’t really fault the hurt feelings from Danault. He had earned better. But once this season started he just wasn’t producing, but who was? Hard to get increased minutes when the stats don’t back it up.

The thing the Kings most right now is a 3rd line checking center who can take on the toughest assignments & free Byfield to be a scorer. Someone like, oh I don’t know, Phil Danault. That’s what sucks about him leaving. He could be doing what he was actually brought in to do. Remember they said with Danault that preventing goals is as important as scoring them. But he scored 25 goals & we forgot that. But Hiller should’ve gone back to that with Phil. At the beginning of the season he should’ve said to Danault that he was going to be his top penalty killer & his line was going to match up against the top opponents. Instead he gave that role to Byfield. And it wasn’t good for either one.

The problem with this is that QB is not a scorer. He has concrete hands.

QB is the 3rd line checking C you’re looking for. He’s big, fast and can check hard. But scoring is not his forte.
