Who was saying the Kings were contenders after everyone and their mother agreed we had by far, THE WORST free agent / off season moves?

Everyone was saying quite the opposite. Aging team, no young blood in sight, younger players not taking their next steps, terrible coach, tenuous goaltending...

I saw numerous sites list them as cup contenders, while at the same time giving them a well earned F for their off season moves. Didn't make any sense at all.

Terrible coaching. Only one line was clicking, but very few adjustments. Just keep trying the same over and over. The five forward power play wasn’t clicking but we keep doing it. Nightmare game. Awful goaltending too obviously.

Kings upper management made the decision during the offseason to keep the status quo, and this result was as predictable as the sunrise.

I personally was hoping they'd clean house and start a true rebuild from the ground up.

Kevin Fiala is a fine productive player most nights but I’ve never understood why Blake felt the need to break the bank to add him to a team dead set on playing a defensive grinding style. He’s always stuck out like a sore thumb when he isn’t 100% fully engaged and on his game. Just baffling.

He is back to making as many minuses as pluses. Last year it looked like he was figuring out his game. I’d say we shouldn’t have given up Faber, but we would’ve traded him anyway.

Those draft picks and we have no Roy, no Faber, no Walker, no Durzi, no Spence and had to go out and overpay for two so-so veterans. This era might be a masterclass in wasted potential.
