***PLAYOFFS Game 6 GDT Oilers vs. Kings 5/12/22 7:00pm on BSW & TBS***

man... my in attendance streak just had to end :(
first loss I recall in person since 2013 against the stars

at least the suite I was invited to was fun.

Neither team looked very good and it wasn’t a fun game to watch. However the Oilers had the edge in adjusting their game to frustrate the Kings and it worked overall. I believe in the Kings to adjust and regroup Saturday.

As the game wore on the Kings covered McD adequately and did well to get sticks on the ice and in the way of shots. They protected well around the net. They have grown this series by getting more physical and standing up for themselves.

How did McDavid end u with only 24:02 of ice time? Felt more like it was 42:02.

Thought sure they would do some sort of tribute for Brownie during the last commercial break, but they did not. I guess we'll just have to do it next round!

And, if that was the last home game of the season, it's still 3 more than I thought we'd get this year.

Oh, and I didn't wear the same shirt I wore on Sunday because I was lazy and haven't done laundry since then, so this loss was definitely all my fault

Strange game, in that:
1) The Kings took only one penalty (and killed it) and went 1/4 on the PP (pretty good %) and still lost.
2) The Kings were outplayed 5 on 5, which has not happened a lot this series.
3) The first have had all the intensity of a game in January.

All in all, the Kings looked tentative, nervous, like the pressure was on them, which it was to a certain extent. Also, their passing was off a lot. One thing I've not heard mentioned is that the ice in Edmonton is a lot better than here in LA (always has been, but especially this time of year). That would throw off passing of any team. So, with better ice, even if one the road, the Kings may do better. We'll see!

Not to mention, we were getting out-shot from the jump. People always want to downplay that stat, but I always think it's a pretty good indicator of intensity and who is driving the play, and tonight that wasn't us.

Just got home from the game. For some reason, not really disappointed?
I am excited to see which of the kids lays it all out on the table for a game 7.

Drunk before the puck drops posting? A slow start and a soft goal? Then a downward spiral into tone deaf singing songs I don't really know the words to and trying to catch up with a "Grace and Frankie" marathon? Not a good look.

Sorry.

Hope everyone had fun here despite my nonsense. I'll step it up for game 7 and fun fact: loving that we are in game seven with the Oil.
Go Kings.

Aside: The Oil's rally song is "La Bamba"? That's awesome and Lucky dropped the ball, twice. No Brown tribute last night? For shame.

Go Kings.

If you weren't drunk would be weirder.

Arty worked his ass off - Even laid out McJesus - which led to Kane gooning him up.

Agreed, he looked like a legit power forward at times during that game (which I didn't think was in his repertoire). That spin shot he had was brilliant!

Yeah, that spin shot was excellent. He is not a speed burner so that shot was a nice way to get some separation for a less contested shot and get a potential screen.

For better or worse that's kind of what was expected if both teams played a strong effort. Came down to a third period chance but with the odds favoring the Oilers. It's a testament to how good the kings might become if they learn from these games and build that depth. It's also a testament to the fact that for as much depth as the oil have tried to have, the chasm between McDavid, Drais and the rest us enormous. In fact McDavid has been out of his mind the last few games and leaving even Drais in the dust.
Still I'll take game 7, going to be a bag of nerves but there's nothing like it when you're seeing it happen and you know the opponent 6 games worth of enmity.

I was definitely disappointed at how flat the Kings were early in the game, but I can't be disappointed that we're going to game seven against a more talented team. Sure wish we had Doughty and Arvidsen.
