***PLAYOFFS Game 6 GDT Oilers vs. Kings 5/12/22 7:00pm on BSW & TBS***

Well, no one said it would be easy. Love how we fought back, but the outcome isn't surprising.

Time to sit AA for game seven. His speed is an asset to our offense, but his defensive liabilities are becoming harder to hide. Time to give Gabe another shot.

Our passing was atrocious at times last night, especially in our zone and neutral ice. Unlike Tuesday night, some of the kids looked tentative from the outset.

And I just don't get keeping Kopitar on the power play. He's as predictable as the sunrise and even though we did score a PP goal, we have to improve.

Proud of this team for overcoming all the adversity we've endured this year, but Saturday night in Edmonton will be the toughest game most of these kids have played in their careers. As Coach Todd said, we've won there before and we can win again, but it will take an almost flawless performance from top to bottom. We definitely have a chance, but the atmosphere in Edmonton will be insane.

But the Oilers will be feeling the pressure too. Lose this game and it's a national disgrace in Canada. They were obviously heavy favorites coming in, so the pressure won't just be on the Kings kids. I say come out with energy and just have fun and play. We were holding our sticks so tight last night I'm surprised they didn't shatter in our hands. No one thought we'd come this far, so it's house money as far as I'm concerned. The Kings and their staff should approach the game with that mindset. Win or lose tomorrow, this season is already a success.

AA has speed but just coughs it up bring in Villardi

This has been a great series and will no doubt be a huge building block for the young kids on the roster. Even the ones who got just a taste and are sitting in the press box. Win or lose this series it's going to make all of them understand you have to push even harder if you want to get to the next level. That first hand experience will be invaluable.

Unfortunately I think the Oilers are just a bit better at this point and they're very likely going to win Game 7 but you have to give everyone in the organization huge praise for making it this far. Think about how hard this Kings team is making a roster with two of the top 3 players in the entire sport work just to squeeze out a series. That's pretty damn cool. Any way it's been so much fun watching this team grow this season!

Played six games and each team has won three. And the last one came down to the last few minutes to settle. That's pretty amazing without Doughty.

Games 1 and 5 were close as well, and the Kings won both! As others have said, at this point, ALL of the pressure is on the Oilers, as everyone expects them to finish this on their home ice.

What I found interesting about last nights game is that the Kings were just really off. They were flat most of the game. They were still 1 breakdown away from heading to OT making it a one shot game.
On the other hand; that was the best the Oilers have played 5 on 5. So some credit goes to them but I for one think if the Kings get back to their game; they have a good shot to pull it off tomorrow.

Despite our universal agreement that the Kings have outperformed expectations....damn it, I'm not satisfied! especially against these guys...As everyone else 'm in awe of Mcjesus' ability to just will a scoring chance nearly every touch of the puck... But Kane's on and over the edge play (elbows, knees, bs in scrums), Drai seems like a talented, entitled prick, and Smith? where to start (oh yeah, flopping, spearing....really? 2 mins?) Thought i disliked Vegas....
Sure it's game 7 and it's there and they'll come out flying-but if Quick can play like we've seen, frustrate them early, they'll start to grip...the longer we keep them in check - thw pressure on the will build...and if the Kings play their game, they can do this!!! Remember Kesler's tears in '12? Thorton's in '14?... I want the entire ciry of Edmonton to be weeping... GKG!

Here's the nut, McDavid raising his team is something only he can control. He's simply the the most capable hockey player in all of hockey. The only thing he's lacked is making anyone around him coattail at all cuz he's been supersonic.
The kings simply have to take away everything else. Make him go pure Iverson, give him 2 goals but take away the assists. Make him one man show... But they gotta outscore it and shut down everything else. It's a slim slim margin to go that route. For game 7 if they want to say eff these guys this is our game... Well honestly it's just as slim, but potentially more beneficial to their development. Heavy is the head that wears the crown....

I'm not sure I've ever seen a player as repeatedly explosive as McDavid in all my years of watching hockey. His ability to go 0-60 is better than Pavel Bure. His wrist shot is better than Sakic. He's vision is on par with Gretzky. The dude jumps off the bench, sees 18" of daylight and before a defenseman can pivot his hips he's already blown by him while dangling the puck. The way he tilts the ice on seemingly mundane plays multiple times per game is just mind-boggling. He is flat out the most talented player since Lemieux. I personally think he's got more tools than Mario but either way we're very likely watching the most gifted hockey player in the history of the sport.

All that being said, even a hockey god can't win a series by himself.

If the Kings give a 60 minute effort, stay out of the box and Quick makes every save he's supposed to plus a couple he probably shouldn't, the Kings will win Game 7.

I agree with sitting AA out for game 7. To me it seemed it was that moment he tried to enter the offensive zone & got crushed. After that he seemed tentative & didn?t really use his speed. From watching the game live I don?t think the Kings played a bad game. Not saying they were perfect but they had a good chance of winning, or at least tying it up. It was disappointing but compared to the other 2 games, not as devastating. And I have to say that Mike Smith is a piece of crap. He does 2 things, cheap shots & flops. But unlike Oilers fans, I don?t want the Kings to take runs at him. I want to win fair & square. However, if he did throw himself to the ice pretending to be injured, & in the process injured himself with that action, that would make me very happy.

Thought sure they would do some sort of tribute for Brownie during the last commercial break, but they did not. I guess we'll just have to do it next round!

I wonder if Brown told them not to do it because he thought we were going to win this series & it wouldn?t be his last home game. Or if the organization thought so for the same reason. Or they didn?t want it to be seen as giving up.

that girl on the jumbotron who downed a bud light and crushed the can on her forehead though? Hero.

I was going to say my future wife.

Just for a split second - that gal looked like Honey Boo Boo's mom (and don't even ask me how in THE HELL I know that...but I do...sadly...)

I appreciate your enthusiasm, and McDavid has mad skills, but Wayne Gretzky is still the best hockey player I've ever seen.

As Marcel Dionne once said about Gretzky: "He makes us all look like bums."

Yea Gretzky in his time in his prime. McDavid does not have near the shot Gretzky did not think the game near as good as Gretzky. McDavid’s greatest strength is his incredible skating ability.
I personally like watching Mackinnon over McDavid.

I agree on McDavid's skating abilities...jaw-dropping at times...but until otherwise noted, Gretzky is tops in my book. His vision, anticipation and shot were unreal. It almost wasn't fair.

All true but if Bobby Orr didn't have a destroyed knee I think he was the greatest hockey player....at the one who affected the most change to the NHL. But who knows....JMO.
