***Playoffs GAME 7 LA Kings @ Edmonton Oilers GDT 5/14/22 7:00pm on BSSC & ESPN***

So...

Bye Brown, thanks for retiring. Kopi, please follow. Iafallo, you suck. Edler? No thanks.

Everyone else?

A lot of potential. Great season. Exceeded all expectations. Healthy team who knows what may have happened. Next year sounds like fun.

Fun season. Nice to have us back in the playoffs...took the mighty Oilers to the brink.

But we need to get bigger. It's okay to have a few Lizottes and Moores, but not a whole team of smallish players, no matter how much heart the play with. And please let Iafallo go elsewhere. I've seen enough of him in a Kings uniform.

The Kings proved the can beat the Oilers, but not McDavid. The guy made some spectacular plays. One of the best skaters I've ever seen.

I believe the team of the first round of the playoffs so far has been the
@LAKings
. While the phrase “heart of a champion” was used a lot with the
@TBLightning
tonight, I think it applies even more so to Kopitar, Brown & Quick tonight. The Kings in this series exemplifies hockey!

Quite a nice compliment from a neutral observer.

I hope the experience gain this post season will lit a fire in their bellies, and come hungry next season. It was great to see Quickie compete and give the guys a fighting chance. Not disappointed at all, it?s been a happy surprise to see them make the playoffs. Thank you Brownie! I hope Blake and company see the glaring hole and make personnel adjustments this off-season.

Does anyone else remember a more dominant series by one player than what we saw with McDavid this series? That is not to take away anything the Kings did or didn’t do; but the guy pretty much single handedly won that series for the Oilers. Very impressive and hats off to him.

Just a bummer of an effort. If you'd told me the Kings would only take one penalty the entire game, I'd have said they had a really good chance. But I can't remember one legitimate scoring chance, not one moment of the game where they seemed like a threat to score. Just completely dominated and not really any fight at all.

First of all I know we are all disappointed in the results of this series. This team this season has achieved more than anyone thought they would. Never did we see the Kings making the playoffs. Yes we thought they would make a run and keep it close but never make it. An incredible accomplishment! Now taking the Oilers to 7 games with the players they have was an unbelievable feat. I have enjoyed this season more than the last 7 seasons because this team over achieved like no other.

Blake will make some big moves this off season to bring in character guys and players like Andreas will not be resigned. As Kings fans we were lucky to have another month of hockey to watch, even though it was only two weeks for the playoffs. Next season we will see how much further these young players can take the Kings with the addition of hard nosed character players. Hats off to Quick as he was incredible between the pipes with the defense in front of him. Brown thank you for an incredible career. Let’s see who steps up next season. See you all in October.

Also I think we have to thank Kopitar for a great career. I know he hasn?t formally announced retirement, but his effort this series was sort of an informal announcement.

Agreed. I would not be adverse trading him over the summer.

We still need an impact youngster up front. Our best forwards have been guys who Blake has traded/signed (Moore, Danault, etc). I would not be against another year of AA. His speed is world class and he has a lot of skill.

The highlights of the playoffs to me was seeing what we've got in the kids during high-pressure situations. Durzi did a decent job running the offense and was not a total liability on defense. He could make a guy like Clarke expendable because of what he has shown time and time again this year. Mikey Anderson was head and shoulders the best LD. And he even embraced a playoff villain role. Blake needs to lock him down with an extension this year. Kaliyev has shown that he's got a strong future. Kupari didn't look out of place centering a bottom pair.

Blake has a lot of trade chips and a respectable amount of cap space. He can take another run at Chychrun. He can also try to sign someone like Forsberg as a UFA. Or he can be more modest and hope that the future is now for some of the prospects.

No matter what this was a great season.

Agreed, I'd like to see AA back again next season but not sure it's in the cards as the Kings definitely need to package a few players out and start thinning the roster in order to hopefully get Byfield, Andersson, Fagemo, JAD and Turcotte regular time next season.

Signing a player like Forsberg or trading for someone like Lafreniere needs to be top priority this offseason right behind resigning Kempe, Anderson and Durzi.

Blake and team are going to be busy for sure.

Agreed that this was a fun season, but I don't see all this cap space you're talking about. We had no cap space at season's end here. We lose Brown's 5.8 mil but that's canceled out by Lizotte's and Peterson's raises. If you want to keep Durzi and Anderson on defense next season they are RFAs and will want raises. Edler, Maatta, and Stetcher are UFAs that could save us 8.5mil if they all go bye bye. Our only UFA on offence is AA who you mentioned keeping at 2.7mil, but he might want a raise too. That leaves Kempe, Lemieux, Anderson, Grundstrom, and Vilardi as RFAs on offense. Kempe is making 2mil and you know he wants a raise. I don't know what the cap will go up to but I was thinking we have some issues staying under it already, let alone if Blake makes a trade or two for a high value player.

Ugh, I just remembered what I told people when they asked me mid season, "how are the Kings doing?" I would say they are playing good enough to break my heart. That's just how I feel right now.

So, i missed the game. Stuck at work. It all came down to which kings team showed as we saw.

I did see some highlights of McDavid--talented no doubt, but ohboy! ALL Kinds of clutch and grab any other player would be in the box. Sucks the Nhl and refs have such a boner to not call it fair. Oh, well. Hopefully the Avs decimate these chumps.

Gah I slipped and fell face first into some onions again damnit.

I can?t believe anyone wants AA back. We lost to the better team and I?m fine with that but the winner in game 6 was on his lazy play, not getting it deep enough. So then TM dangles Vilardi as a threat but let?s AA stay in the lineup to redeem himself. He almost did - he stopped a goal with a great play and almost had a nice offensive play too. Then go look at that back breaking play - the second goal. Look at him stop after missing McDavid. He still had the chance to stop that. His instinct seems to be to stop. Durzi was equally brutal on that play, but I can live with a rookie who works hard every day making one bad play. I don?t hate AA, I?m not saying we lost because of AA but I am saying this - the guy does not have the work ethic to be what this team needs. We need hard working, character guys and if AA is on this team next year then I don?t see what Blake is trying to build here at all.

"I don’t even know what to say, I’ve watched it from four different benches in the National Hockey League and now I get to watch it from ours. An outstanding effort by him."

Truly thankful as a fan that we've gotten to watch this dude play for so long.

AA needs to go. Game 6 one of his selfish plays directly led to a goal. Grundstrom brings the same drive the net mentality but is a lot less selfish and risk/reward than AA. He can do some cool stuff but it's not worth it at the other end of the ice.
