***Playoffs Rd 1, GM 6 GDT - Oilers vs. Kings 4/29/23 >>7:00pm<< on BSSC & TBS***

If heads roll tomorrow below Blake id be worried. Thats one part of flyers west i want no part of.

Draisaitl has 20 points in 13 games against the kings in the last two playoffs... And is only a plus 3. Simply put the kings have not handled him and its legit been the difference. I dont know how a team adjusts to that without a bobby clarke solution.

I do know one thing though. I could get swept watching that game 6 night after night. I would quit watching hockey if whatever it was they put on the ice in game 5 and somehow won.

Oilers are going to be a top 4 team in the NHL, wholesale changes are not the answer when youve got something that close.

Scouting report on Korpi: shoot high from far. The end.

Whatever - you're all beautiful Kings fans. Have a nice summer. Bye.

Go Golden Knights, Quicky and Martinez.

Although I gag a little saying it...but yes, if they can kill the occasional penalty, VGK in 6!.. (I really, really have grown to hate the Oil.)

There are too many non-rootable teams this year. I loathe the Oil and their whiny fans and vegas..HELL NO!

This series loss really sucks. The Kings were 40 minutes away from a 3-1 lead in the series against a team that many pundits and most hockey fans expected to sweep LA. The Kings put up more fight than anyone not watching this team at their peak ever thought possible. The difference in this series was a lot smaller than anyone is ready to acknowledge. Gotta give credit to the Oilers. They executed when the pressure was on. The Kings couldn’t. And that’s the series.

I get not putting all the blame on Korpisalo, but to excuse him from blame is beyond me. Look at the shots tonight. One of every five was in our net. You’re not going to win that way. On top of that, defense literally stopped two sure goals for him. He was weak. I don’t blame him as much as I blame the coach for sticking with him.

The reality of the NHL now is you don’t need a super human goalie to win the cup. You just need a guy who stops the ones he’s expected to and a few of the ones he isn’t. Sounds overly simplistic but that’s exactly what Skinner just did vs. the Kings.

23 goals against in 6 games…..3.8 per playoff game. Not gonna cut it.

Limp into the playoffs down the stretch, home ice gone, ended up drawing a power play juggernaut and we can’t stay outta the sin bin.

Swiss cheese defense.

The Todd era has run its course. We all know it. Getting to the next level will require a change. It’s an eventuality. Might as well get it over with.

IF you have the superior team, like Edmonton did.

I don't think so. The way Quick and Peterson were playing, they would have been golfing weeks ago.

Time for the rebuild to be over and make tough choices, the Quicky one was the start. There is good young talent on this team that would benefit other teams when we need some physical experienced talent moving forward to next level.

Copley could have given us what we needed, Vlad is gonna leave and I just don't think Joonas is the one

Vlad might leave, but honestly be really prepared for him to go to the KHL to collect his highest paycheck. He clearly proved he's a number 3, how much can you pay a 3?

The Oilers scored 24 goals plus 1 empty net goal in 6 games.
The Kings scored 20 goals in 6 games.

The Oilers scored 9 PP goals.
The Kings scored 7 PP goals.

The Oilers scored 15 even strength goals.
The Kings scored 11 even strength goals.

How much superior were the Oilers?

They won the series. All credit to them. But let’s resist the urge to say the Kings were blown out in this series. They were not. Now did the Oilers carry the play and did they out chance the Kings? Absolutely. But all those shot attempts and possession led to 4 extra goals over 6 games. 4 extra saves and the series looks a whole lot different.

Ooooooor maybe a goalie was keeping you in it...

Was there one particular defense pairing that got victimized for most of those even strength goals, or was it fairly well spread out?

This feels ominously like the 2000’s back hole Kings; trading picks for short term rentals who aren’t a long term solution. I don’t really see us retaining either, perhaps Korpi. Not having a first and one of our thirds (we still have the Pen’s 3rd) this year is really going to hurt.

If only Byfield would have scored coming out of the penalty box.....oh well...a fun ride, further than any of us predicted at the start of the season, I think.

I kinda feel like I'm gonna root for the Oilers now. At least in the West. Hate the Stars, hate the VGK even more.... And neither Kraken or Avs have what it takes
