Agree. Why he didn’t let the fourth line play a lot when we were up 6-2 and the Oilers was so obviously beaten is beyond me?Great game but a very big concern is we can't keep playing with only three lines.
Helenius played 3:50
Mallot played 5:50
Moverare only played 2:36 as the 7th defender.
I'm not sure why Hiller chose to to use them in the line up that way.
I agree with both of you. That said, it's hard to criticize Hiller too much when he's pushing all the right buttons. Special teams look amazing, team is staying composed, etc.Agree. Why he didn’t let the fourth line play a lot when we were up 6-2 and the Oilers was so obviously beaten is beyond me?
This to both get them more involved and hopefully dish out some checks on 97 and 29, but also and foremost to rest our star players and also make sure that scumbags like Perry, Nurse and Kane didn’t have the opportunity to cheap shot players like Kempe, Byfield and Fiala in the last minutes of the game.
I just don’t get that part of Hiller’s coaching, although I’m of course VERY pleased with the game in general!!
I think Hiller just decided to keep his foot on the gas. It looked to me like the oil was burned out with about 5 minutes to go in the 2nd. So, I guess we can't complain too much. My concern is that hit Laf took in game one did some damage. I cannot recall a single shift with him flying into the O zone per his usual self. Of course Kopitar with 21+ minutes may not be sustainable as well.Great game but a very big concern is we can't keep playing with only three lines.

we've been doing that for a huge chunk of the season. Id expect heavy usage of the top 9 for the remainder of this series at least, especially in Edmonton where we dont get last change. The reason Hiller runs the 11/7 is because he wants the flexibility of running different D configurations depending on which lines he's matching and where we are on the ice.Great game but a very big concern is we can't keep playing with only three lines.

My favorite part of that stat for Moverare is that 2:36 was counted as 1 shift. Dudes gets on the ice and they won't let him off.Great game but a very big concern is we can't keep playing with only three lines.

This!! Bring back Flinn!!!I agree with both of you. That said, it's hard to criticize Hiller too much when he's pushing all the right buttons. Special teams look amazing, team is staying composed, etc.
Roster wise, if Mo is only going to play in garbage time then why not dress the baddest MF they can find in the AHL to be the 18th guy. If we get a big lead and the Oilers get chippy, then we send him out. This is where we are missing Jeannot and the loss of Englund.
