***Playoffs Round 1 Game 3 Edmonton Oilers vs. LA Kings 7:00pm on BSSC & TBS***

Mike Smith...40 years old...playing like 20...hates the Kings...not a good combination. He's been incredible...and fortunate...the Kings have well-acquainted themselves with the plumbing the surrounds Him. We've certainly hit our share of piping the last two games...and why did I capitalize Him? Well, he does kinda look like a pissed-off version of Jesus, but he's playing like a pissed-off God. And McJesus plays center for Edmonton, and you can't have two Jesus's on one team, right?

But Smith looks more like a brick wall.

Maybe he should give Nikolai a call tomorrow and borrow his mask. It would be apropos...

But is it really that weird that Edmonton beat us? They have at least 3 forwards (McDavid, Draisaitl & Kane) that are better than our best one, their best defenseman (Nurse) is way better than our best one and maybe even Barrie, Bouchard & Keith are too. Add to that the fact that their goalie is clearly outplaying ours. Given that, maybe we ?should? loose?

But you make it sound like they beat us by 25 points in the standings... and it was only 5. They've been a roller coaster all season just like us. They've scored 17 goals in three games and that is unacceptable even if we were the Kraken. Since the Mike Smith fake penalty in game three, we have been a disaster defensively. The kids are showing that they are kids.

I don't think Smith is playing incredibly, were not bringing it to him with screens, crashing the net, picking corners or outnumbered attacks. We are allowing him or anyone else to stop our one and done. Kings goalies on the otherhand are left to dry!

1) Black Parade intro wasn't bad....kinda cool.
2) Kings fans getting out-cheered by fans from a team that is based 1,700 miles away in our own barn was pathetic, no matter what the score.
3) Rally towels lame & generic (just the new "wordmark" logo, nothing else)
4) Gabe Vilardi looked really good in the 15 seconds of ice time he got (ok, it was 12:48, but that was only because we were down by 100 in the 3rd)
5) Hope Sunday isn't quite this bad - I'm bringing people.

5 1/2) we got a power play goal. whoo.
6) Kopi needs to shoot the puck
7) Durzi had a really, really rough night

Humiliating but useful end to a nice season.
Useful in the sense of in case anyone from the FO down thought we were close to anything or don’t have HUGE, EXPENSIVE needs all over the ice.
Is there a tiny bit of value in the youngsters getting this experience? Yeah, probably.
At bottom, we took a spot away from a team that could have given Edmonton a much tougher series.

Some fair points for sure. But if I’m honest I think we really overachieved during the regular season while Edmonton probably underachieved. And the playoffs is a completly different game compared to the regular season.

No matter what, this season has been WAY better than I ever thought it would be and this ”premature” playoff is a great learning experience for this up-and-coming team!!

Off the top of my head Oilers have at least 6 players making impact/huge plays nearly every time they're on the ice. Kings have about 0.

I passed out for the third, went out on the high note that was the second intermission. Liked the fact that the bottom six managed to be even. Other than that though Edmonton is just rolling in confidence and is playing well. Not sure the Kings at present have answers to that. Frustrating for sure but in the context of expectations this is still house money.

Smith looks damn good to me. 74 saves in two games. He's not the only reason the Kings are being embarrassed, but he's a big reason.

YOU FORGOT:

8) The "in arena entertainment" was awful. What genre was that? Rap? Rock? Rage Against The Machine?
9) Can we blow out DJ Vickone? And why the close ups of him?
10) Brooklyn wannabe break dancers must stop
11) Also stop the drum line
12) Those Oiler fans in the 100 level got some sweet ducats. I mean - how does the opposing team get group tickets all in the same spot? We're talkin' 20 - 25. Not the occasional 4 or 6...but a gaggle of orange.

Eh honestly good for him/them. This was never the Kings years between injuries and lack of any actual growth. Next year should be exciting. Plenty of obvious and glaring issues to address, and consequences to be dished out should they not be addressed, imo. I just hope these steamrolls can get managed for the here and now. I start a... 6 day road trip in about 2 hours. Woo.

I stopped going there in 2014 because it was getting too terrible. Not surprised that it's worse with the nonstop "entertainment" culture we live in. Even though you're like, at an event to be entertained. Can't actually just attend for that, says the 99% people with glass seats I'd kill for who are on their phone the entire game.

Smith has been fine but really, how many high quality shots has he had to face. Pretty much the standard MO for the Kings this season. Throw a lot of pucks at the net, high shot total, very few high danger chances though.

Yes on 8 (WTF was that), 10, 11 (we look pathetic copying Vegas) and 12 (how the heck does that happen). As for Vick, he's fine. Lots of arenas have DJs. Now his music selection...not always my cup of tea but he's playing to the masses.

The ?entertainment? is completely over the top. Nothing worse than spending hundreds on tickets to watch your team get embarrassed while being forced to hear a PA guy screaming in between crappy loud music. Unfortunately, it will probably continue to get louder/worse.

The refs calling the game so close works against us too as our special teams suck. I hate to say it,but there's no way I see us winning this series now. I do see us rising up and getting another game behind one more vintage Quick performance, but to win 3 more games with no powerplay and a weak penalty kill is too much to ask.

Love Lizzote but he can’t handle the playoff intensity due to his size . We need some big bodies on the fourth line that can hit . Anyone noticed how engaged Vilardi and Kaliev were . Only if they were insulated with the vets and played in key roles during regular season. All of this squarely falls on the coach . I just pray next year they put them ina better position to succeed .
