GDT ***Playoffs Round 1, Game 3 GDT LA Kings @ Edmonton Oilers 4/25/25 7:00pm on FanDuel, TNT, tru, max***

I'm a little confused on the TV side of things. I thought the local broadcast teams can cover the 1st round. Did they change that rule?

jom
No. Kings broadcast was still on TV on Fan Duel. They just have a national broadcast for out of market people...or Kings fans that prefer a lesser quality broadcast.

The game was on fd Socal last night, for some reason my dtv plan doesn't cover that channel, so I was stuck watching two morons call the game from a studio in Atlanta.

The last two games have been on the 2nd FanDuel channel as the Angels get top bid on the main channel.

Reading some of the comments on here, it’s almost as if some of you thought this was gonna be a sweep. Oilers have 2 of the top 5 players in the league. They were gonna win one, at the very least. Give them this one, regroup, take game 4 from them at home and win it back at Crypto

Agreed. I thought we had them but the stupid challenge by Hiller really seemed to get in the Kings heads. That said, most series are 2-1 or otherwise close. I'll still settle for Kings in 7. The Oilers D and goaltending suck. The Kings just need to play their game and they can win. Darcy also needs to improve or it is going to be a close series.

Kuemper has not had a good series, though a sizable portion of blame to Hiller for wearing out his top lines, notably Kopitar and Doughty. When they are tired its natural to revert to playing not to lose. Kings still win in 6, unless Hiller continues the unbalanced ice time management.

I'll take a fresh 4th line over a 70% Kopi line against the McJesus line. Unfortunately, since they're double and triple shifted you eventually have to put in other players or you get the results we saw last night

Maybe do something like this? Play 4 lines and put Malott & Helenius on different lines, thus giving each line more physicality and balance. Maybe not the whole game but one period trying to protect a lead. A 4th line of Lewis/Turcotte, Laf & Moore, for example, then Hiller can roll 4. As for the D, he's gotta show some faith in Spence and Clarke at some point otherwise it will be more of last night's 3rd.

FWIW, i never expected a sweep, and i think most pundits put the series at 6-7 games. The issue I have is that you can't give away games in a series that's expected to be this tight.

I was unhappy with the way they went into the 1-3-1 in the 3rd with the lead. We saw the same thing happen in game 1 and they almost lost that game. The oilers strength is their offense, and we allowed them to play into that, and took away our ability to put pressure on their weakness which is their defense and goaltending.

I liked the way our team battled back from down 2-0, and then the response going up 4-3 late in the 2nd. So, making a challenge after the play was already reviewed, late in the game, and giving them an opportunity to ride the momentum into a PP is just... it's a huge mistake. Drop the 1-3-1, go back to putting pressure on the oilers. Get some zone time. And give your team a chance to win the game.

They took their foot off the gas. And they gambled with the challenge and lost. They took away their ability to compete for the win. They deserve to be critiqued. Did I expect an easy series? Hell no. But I do think they threw away their chance to put the series out of reach going up 3-0. They f***ed that up last night.

Exactly this. Couldn't have said it any better

I agree 100% with every word.

Hiller isn't the only reason we lost the game but he shoulders the majority of the blame. He did not coach a good game.

Love the way the boys battled back...and then that prolonged nightmare sequence... possibly the most unpleasant 10 seconds in King history...literally made me physically ill... especially with you know who directly involved.

Of all the Oilers scum, he's the most despicable.

Hiller better pull his head out of his ass tomorrow. Sorry I'm still pretty angry about the game.

I don't think anyone here thinks you need to apologize, a lot of us are upset about it.
Ya know, I didn't expect the Kings to sweep both games in Canada. And when it was 4-3, I had a gut feeling the Oilers would come back. I just didn't like the way it went down.

One minute it looked like the goal would be disallowed and the score would remain 4-3.

Ten seconds later we're down 5-3.

I can't believe Hiller would even consider the possibility Toronto would overturn that goal.

Nightmare sequence. And to rub salt in the wound, it was freakin Kane. That one left a bad taste in my mouth.

WTF, why challenge when the refs and Toronto have already looked at it? Bad challenge, PP goal in seconds. Ugh. What a great game ruined.
Maybe I’m wrong. But from what I heard, Toronto doesn’t look at different things at once. This instance they only look at if the puck is kicked, not goalie interference. They only look at that when the Kings challenge.

What I wish would happen on replays is that the team challenging could say to Toronto what they’re seeing. And then Toronto should release a video saying what they’re saw. That way we know how for instance they saw Kane’s stick hit the puck after he kicked it.
