Rob Blake is out.

First off I apologize, I honestly thought your Avatar was Mick Mars from Motley Crue.
It's a common mistake. They almost cast Mick Mars for the role.

The absolute worst, with Texas not too far behind.
Around early mid summer in Florida, the temp is in the mid 90’s,but the humidity between 90-100% is what drains you(so to speak)Plus, they have no see um’s(insects that bite and/or sting you,and leave before you know what hit you).

  • For all Euros, and most Canadians, the geographic location puts them considerably further away from home.
  • Taxes and cost of living are high
  • This is not a "hockey culture" city. Hockey is very much an afterthought. For many players who grew up in places where hockey is life, it's a big turnoff.
  • LA does not have a reputation as a safe or family friendly city in the outside world and it seems particularly true in hockey circles. Gavrikov talked about being worried about his family when he was traded. The bus ride to Crypto does not help counter that perception at all.
  • All those things could be overcome to a large extent if the team was going deep every season, but they haven't gone to the 2nd round in 11 years. For a lot of players, that was when they were kids. Ancient, dusty history.
The question is not why do UFAs not want to come here. The question is why would they?
Yeah, why come here when you can play/live in NYC, Chicago, St. Louis, Dallas, Philadelphia, Boston St. Paul, Seattle etc and all the other leagues garden spots.

With Boo Boo Blake gone, I can actively (instead of passively) root for the Los Angeles Kings again. I knew he was undeserving of the job. With regards to replacement GM, I've been a out of the loop for a bit, but why not poach talent from one of the good organizations like Detroit or Tampa Bay?

With regards to individual names, I'd be interested in bringing Mike Futa back to the organization as part of the front office but I'm not sure he's ready to lead it.

Jarmo Kekalainen may not have been the answer as a first-time GM, but he has a reputation for drafting well and implementing good player development, which the Kings could always use. Maybe he'll be better learning from his experience the first time around.

Mathieu Darche, the Assistant GM for the Tampa Bay Lightning seems to be among the hot names under consideration for a future GM job.

Laurence Gilman, the Assistant GM for the Toronto Maple Leafs, is described as being smart and connected albeit inexperienced in the lead role. He'd be another worthy front-office addtion, though maybe not quite ready for the general manager role.

With regards to coaching, there seems to be quite a lot of intriguing up-and-comers in terms of unproven candidates, which I'd rather go for over worn-out retreads. Names like Andrew Brunette, Spencer Carbery, Jay Leach, Ryan Warsofsky, Pacal Vincent, and Marco Sturm. Sturm, however, was previously groomed within the Kings organization under the guidance of Todd McLellan, but I currently have a distaste for going with the in-house candidates that were part of the chum network of organization insiders.

*laughing* fantastic. 10/10 no notes.

I chose the avatar because I knew it would not be sexualized but did not have the foresight to see the pendulum swing all the way to Mick Mars. I've learned something today. Thank you, Earl. lol.

Typing from the random godless universe I live in but all kidding aside (lie), the pope is an American from Chicago? Does this mean he's the first Pope that knows how to step*?
Season 2 Ballroom Dancing GIF by Living Single

*Chicago Stepping, also known as Steppin', is a unique and vibrant dance style that originated in Chicago's South Side.

I'd wait for the hire if I were you...it's still the same people hiring the GM.
Thanks. I actually came to that realization shortly after my post. The franchise looks like it needs new ownership. Hopefully, one that is actually passionate about hockey and not interested in using the organization as an ends to a means. You know...such as building a brand new arena downtown to host professional sports teams including the one they own along with concerts and other events as a vehicle to revitalize the surrounding area with a plethora of profitable real-estate development projects.
