Nothing like the Mike Smith giveaway special on that 3rd goal. You love to see it.

Glad the Oilers are gone but if they can get a decent goalie they'll be very dangerous. Easier said than done though....

Agreed. Read TOR is dragging their feet on Campbell’s ask at 5.5M or so. No idea on how true that is but boy would that be a nightmare if the Oil got him. Otherwise not sure which goalies are on the trade block other than apparently Gibson, but no way he gets traded there.

When that was 4-2 I was hoping for a comeback just to make the elimination a little more humiliating. Colorado didn't disappoint.

I wondered why they didn't kick the tires on Fleury--proven winner.

Holland said he wasn't giving up his 1st rounder. And that's what it would have cost.
In fairness, as hated as Smith is hated, he wasn't the problem. Yes, he's a douche bag extraordinaire and I take
glee in their losing but, the Avs were never gonna lose to them. EDM just became a real threat moving forward if they
make the right upgrades.

Every year Mike Smith doesn't drink from the Cup is a good year.

Well, Kane is gone, so there's one positive. And his scumbag antics cost him a game...the deciding game. Karma is a bitch, eh Evander?

I wish I was a gambler...sometimes. From the start of the season, I had a feeling it would be a Rangers/Avs Final. New York ain't there yet...but I still think it will come down to Colorado vs New York.

Regardless who wins, the Oilers are toast, so I'm a happy camper. And for all the folks out there claiming McDavid is as good as Gretzky...um...no.

By the way, has anyone seen The Great One's house at the Sherwood Country Club? Wow. My buddy worked there and took some pics...un-be-lievable. I'll see if I can find some photos on-line. Now that's a home worthy of a King.

Here it is:

Tampa appears to have found their groove.

Yes and no, there were still significant stretches of that game that Tampa couldn't get out of their own end. NY played better than that score. Game 5 is going to be a doozy. I still want to see a Tampa Colorado final though.

Any team that beats a team from New York is my new favorite. Go Bolts!

I only saw the recap on HNL Network, and the analysts were heaping praise on the "Cup Champs returning to form". But a couple of the goals I saw looked more like breakdowns in single play coverages and some fluky bounces.

Glad it's evened up though, still.

And let our favorite ex-Quack Corey Fairy win another Cup? Take it back LOL! He continues to be the same scumbag with Tampa that he was with the Ducks all those years. Dirty little b**ch of a player, taking cheap shots, doing a facewash then goes and hides behind his team's goon when they retaliate and the going gets rough.

I'll never forget a Kings game from around 2012 or so. Perry and a King (don't recall who) are in the corner of the Ducks zone, each trying to control the puck. I remember plain as day Perry lifting his right leg up high off the ice, then smashing/stomping his skate downwards HARD onto the King's skate/foot. The King yelled out in pain and crashed to the ice, holding his foot. I seem to recall the guy was out a while after that. Does anyone remember this incident? It's one of many over the years that helped build up my hatred of this jerk.

The hockey gods somehow allowed Perry to win once. They didn't let that idiot Kane win this year and hopefully they will do the same with regards to Perry. As we all know, the hockey gods are close cousins of the Karma gods, so I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say IT AIN'T HAPPENING FOR YOU THIS YEAR, MR. COREY PERRY!!! There, I feel better now LOL.

Nyssa42 - you said earlier that you hated him more than you thought possible. I'm with you, and since I'm in South Florida now (and saw the Bolts sweep my new 2nd favorite team, the Panthers), I've never STOPPED hating him. I don't mind guys who play with an edge, but I just don't like scumbags like him and Kane (even though Perry, as far as I know, keeps his scummy-ness on the ice, unlike Mr. Kane) that are just plain dirty players.

Well the real Mike Smith finally showed up in round 3. I hate to admit it but he was playing out of his mind in rounds 1 and 2 and that's why the Oil advanced. Once he came back to down to earth against the Avs the Oil were done for.

As for the finals, we all saw why Frankie from the Avs will never be a #1 goalie and even if they get Keumper back it will not be enough to beat either Igor or Vasi for the cup IMHO.........

Watching the analysts dissect what the Avs did to eliminate the Oilers, specifically talking about Makar's contributions, I think with a healthy Doughty we could have gotten past them.

Think of the difference in monster, all situation minutes Dewey would have been involved and who knows. Already looking forward to next year.

I think he was there all along. He did make some great saves in the first two rounds and that's what he's capable of, as much as I generally can't stand him. At his best, he's a great goalie. He just faced a team that is unrelenting in their offense - a word you could never use for our offense. No goalie was going to stop them. Maybe Price or Quick or someone could steal one, but overall, the Avs were just too damn good no matter who was in net.

I agree here but if Tampa wins (or possibly even the Rangers) the Avs are going to have a difficult time as both possible opponents have better goaltending. We'll see....
