Exactly!
Spence had the second highest point shares of the Kings D last season.
4-24-28 in 79 GP with a +23. And this is the return that we got for a guy making 1.7 million next season? If we didn't have the playoff fiasco, the Kings would be looking to try and trade Spence for low first or high second. He'd be undersized but in demand. But Hiller and then the front office found a way to tank his value in no time. And then he's dealt for futures.
The Kings are adding another million in cap space. Whoop-dee-doo. You know what adds cap space? A guy who is +23 and makes 1.7 million. So instead of Spenny we'll have Joel Edmundson making nearly 4 million a season on the 3rd pairing.
I hope Holland has a plan in the next week. Right now this feels like the same old Kings just making random moves with no overarching plan.
We've gone from trying to package Spence + Turc for Bowen Byram to trading Spence for a hodgepodge of middle round picks. So why should anyone be excited about that?
