I enjoyed the movie. Saw it yestarday with the family. Yes, the action was a overdone, but that is the trend in movies the past 5 plus years. Will say, I thought it even better than Iron Man which was my favorite comic book movie until I saw this.
(and yes Nasti...I honestly think you are incapable of enjoying anything with his name attached)
The thing that bristles the most...the action sequences were among some of the most impressive I have ever seen. The physics of how Superman fights were established here and simply were stunning. There are 3 seperate action setpieces that come in a row. Maybe they needed to break them up a bit more but I think each one was distinct and had valid reasons to be in the movie.
You guys who are con...do you see this as at least a good launching point moving forward? Has DC credibly established Superman enough(despite your feelings about the movie) that you can get on board with this moving forward and possibly launching the DC line more or less. Or do you dislike this so much that nothing short of a total reboot is in order?
And Doc, as far as your too much theory...I see it to a point. But I thought Avengers was far more guilty of forcing you to check out. I honestly thought all 3 action sequences were different enough in scope and had just enough breath in between them to justify what was basically an action run-on sentence.
And for me the boss battle at the end was that OMGWTFBBQ moment you spoke of.
Nobody has mentioned it really...but wasn't Shannon the definition of OOOOOZing with menace? Is that man even capable of levity? I sincerely doubt it.

By the way, OMGWTFBBQ...that's a keeper and the new buzzword for those kind of thingees.

And Shannon ... wow that guy can carry the menacing SOB character over the top! He scares the heck out of me from the screen!
Final Thoughts:
Zack Snyder has said that he has a three hour cut of Man of Steel, and I wouldn?t be surprised to learn some of that dramatic breathing room is in that version. In the film?s current state, it?s a more than satisfying popcorn movie that could?ve been as incredible as its titular character. That?s also what makes a followup to Man of Steel all the more exciting. There?s room for improvement.
I have more questions yet.
No doubt. But those are just a few. I actually don't see the need to wait at this point. I don't understand why someone who hasn't watched the movie would read this thread.
