Superman v Batman/DC movies

so, Like Rogue One, it seems as if studio interference is alive and well these days. I am not sure who is more to blame...the studios for hiring young, independant directors who have limited experience with 'the machine', or those directors for not realizing that they have to conform a bit when such large amounts of money are on the line. James Gunn made the transition marvelously...granted, he was a wee bit more experienced when he finally got his chance.

I think the Rogue One story is a non-story and/or being overblown (because it's Star Wars!). According to the Collider article from the other thread, Gilroy and Edwards collaborated on the Godzilla cut as well. The truth is that very few directors have "final cut" of a picture. That belongs to the producer, usually.

However, I could believe Suicide Squad may have been "ruined" by testing. It wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened, but I think a lot of pictures are also made "better" by testing as well. I put both of those in quotes, because a lot can depend on whether you are looking at it from the perspective of box office or artistic integrity. Both or neither can be helped or hindered by the process.

I will say that the abundance of negative reviews have really lowered my expectations for the Suicide Squad… and I may end up liking it more than I anticipate as a result.

I am just laughing at some "reviews" giving SS an F. Have they not seen Spring Breakers? LOL

If I am HELLBENT on watching a movie, I'll watch it regardless of what anybody says or at how bad the online reviews. I didn't like any of the trailers for BvS and the online reviews didn't help, but I wasn't going to miss watching Wonder Woman on film for the first time, so damn the torpedoes. My expectations were so low that I was expecting to possibly be pleasantly surprised, but nah, haha. Still, I didn't outright hate it, but as a huge DC Nerd seeing the big three together on screen made me warm and fuzzy. :D

I thought Suicide Squad looked silly from the early images and whatnot, but in the case of that movie, I actually liked the trailers. But now these really bad reviews, and honestly, I don't have near the affinity for these characters that I have for the big three. I like Harley Quinn and even though she looks like that in the comics in recent years, I still prefer the original animated series incarnation. I am pretty confused and now nothing is telling me I NEED to see this. *shrugs*

I was hoping SS would turn out to be pretty good. I guess I could still like it.

Damn you, Warners! Lol!

DC Comics fan, always the bridesmaid, never the bride. :cbgb:

"Suicide Squad" always seemed like it was shooting for the snarky alt-crowd that shopped at Hot Topic.

You're all making me sad. And making Darkseid sad. :(

I am putting all my DC eggs in the Wonder Woman movie basket. And if that turns out bad too, I am going to cry myself to sleep, which would mean something if I didn't do that every night already. cry: mhihi:

At the very least, I would expect Wonder Woman to be "not bad." Like I said, it's the first of these movies that looks at all like anything I'd be interested in seeing.

I look forward to seeing Wonder Woman for Robin Wright.
She survived a marriage to Sean Penn and looks absolutely amazing at 50 years old, so she's a real-life super hero in my book.

Saw it today and absolutely loved it. First DC movie where they managed to bring some of the comic book flavor to the big screen. All the actors did a great job and Leto was very, very good to me. It felt very much like a SS mission from the comics.

Loved Suicide Squad. Need to see it a second time. No spoilers and I will chat more when not on vacation. :)
