Ben Affleck Not Returning as Batman, Says Brother Casey

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/he...eturning-as-batman-says-brother-casey-1030107

Hmmm.

Who knows. Maybe, I will like Ben Affleck's Batman in Justice League, and then, it will turn out that he won't come back after that. Figures.

Wonder Woman crossed $404MM domestic, passing the unadjusted gross of the original Raimi Spider-Man, which makes the movie the most successful non-sequel superhero debut film of all time.

Internationally, Wonder Woman crossed $800MM. The movie is just about to open in Japan, though, which should goose the international total before it's all said and done. That market could bring anywhere from another $20MM to $75MM, apparently.

That could mean any number of things, most of which are unsavory.

I may be far too cynical...

Joss Whedon fan site shuts down after ex-wife's critical essay

But...suppose Whedon is about to get TMZd re:affairs and his **** treatment of women. Not cool if true and certainly not the good press you thought you were buying in bringing in Whedon and basically back-dooring Snyder. Ok. Well, some folks think Snyder was jobbed a bit. And it's hard to pick on a guy who just lost an adopted daughter to suicide. So...are you hedging bets WB?

I think that might be a tad cynical. Personally, I just see it as this is Snyder's project, and if he is feeling fit to return, he is welcome to fulfill his vision. I also don't see how Snyder returning could be seen as some sort of bad sign, as the article suggests. On the contrary, I think his return would be a good thing, regardless of my ultimate opinion of the movie.

James Cameron Calls Wonder Woman a 'Step Backwards' for Feminism
http://people.com/movies/james-cameron-calls-wonder-woman-step-backwards-for-feminism/

Oh boy oh boy oh boy...this oughtta get interesting. In his defense, he has made movies with strong female characters.

It seems to have flared up on Twitter, haha. Dunno, I need to drink some more before I read more about this. Things aren't one is all right and one is all wrong, but unfortunately, everybody these days seem to feel like it's a binary. I liked the WW film and Gal Gadot as Diana? :love29:

But it wasn't perfect, then again, how many movies are?

I don't think I'll agree with everything that Cameron is saying, but ugh, I don't like the comments "he's a man so his opinion doesn't count" at all. He's not a professional troll, so I will listen to his comments and see what he is saying.

This whole, you're a man, so you can't comment on feminist issues in comics & films is silly. Where there that many people here who were more exited about the Wonder Woman film here than me? And the last time I checked, I am a dude. And I wasn't even thinking about feminism, per se, just wanted a good movie. And a good movie with a strong female character will empower women as a result, and it doesn't have to beat anyone over the head. Just like a good Black Panther movie will help show Black folks in a good light without having to be preachy.

I'll read the article, and maybe, comment. I don't want any of my bias to show, though. ;)

Ok. I finally drank and now I can comment on the Wonder Woman controversy.

Lol.

I am hungry. What's for dinner? mhihi: :hungry:

Simply I have never understood this idea that a strong female superhero character movie/comic book must have a female director/writer. I simply believe that one should go with the best artist/writer/director that can bring the best story and display the character the best reguardless of their sex, period. I pay money to see/read a well written/directed movie/book and truly could not give a rat's behind as to sex/name of who wrote/directed it.

I read a lot of work by writers most have never heard of since I read a lot of translated light novels and manga out of Japan. Basically if it's interesting and entertaining that good enough for me. So basicly put out good work and I have no problem shelling out money to by it but don't attempt to interject social politics and exclude someone who might have done a better job just to check some imagined social issue box. If the best writer/artist/director for a novel/comic book/movie is a women , fine by me, but this coming into the project with preconditions based on the sex of the person rather than the talent may well cause me to keep my money in my pocket.

Btw some of the best writer/artists I have read are actually females. Rumiko Takahashi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumiko_Takahashi) has sold more comic books in the world than Stan Lee as well as had numerous made into anime.
