The All Things MLS, NWSL, USMNT/USWNT et al Thread

I finally got to watch a game. Paintsil, pec and puig when fluid are crazy to watch. I don’t know if throwing Reus in is going to cause too much chaos or be even more unstoppable. But defense on counters and we’re gonna see a lot more 3-2 and 4-3 games.

Playing chivas, yeah that should go well. Rest everyone!

Greeeat start for the US men's olympic team today :(

Granted a header off the post, a goal called back for offsides but.....France was just clinical when they had to be. US sat back and couldn't score when needed (where have I heard that before).

On to the women tomorrow.

Just wondering where Reus slots into the lineup.

He's a ten, so like for like is Puig. That's not going to happen...nor should it.
Puig is "really" not a conventional 10, more like a playmaking 8 the way he drops so far back to get the ball.

If Reus starts, and is not a supersub, then why not have Puig at the 8, Reus at the 10, and either Brugman, Cerillo, Delgado at the 6?

Can you imagine the killer P's with Reus in the mix as the 10?!?!?

I hope dude has the legs.
Even if he is a supersub, getting him at TAM is quite the get.

I don't see how a name like that is going to be a super sub. They'll have to find a way to slot him in, probably like you described.

So if Julian gets sold, I believe the G's still get some of that cheddar.
Peeps saying that his sell deal could move from $4 mill. to over $6 mill. in the end.

Well, I guess we got what we wanted: crash out of the tournament after the group stage.

....but to do it in such poor fashion....ugh!

Yoshida & Neal are very soft on man marking on corners.
Horrible in the air as well.

Galaxy back to conceding on corner again.

Rest up and heal up you G's, and welcome in Reus.
Get ready for the final 8 game stretch of MLS.
Time to get hot just before playoffs.

LA Galaxy closing in on former Inter Miami defender Nicolas Figal

According to El Observador, the LA Galaxy are close to reaching an agreement to sign former Inter Miami defender Nicolas Figal, who spent two years in Florida before joining Argentina giants Boca Juniors.

Hailed as an ‘impressive’ center-back, Figal has made close to 100 appearances for the South American titans since returning to Argentina in 2022, with the defender enjoying relative success with Boca since departing Inter Miami.

However, the 30-year-old defender now looks set to return to MLS this summer, with a move to California being finalized as the Galaxy look to add Figal looking ahead to the post-season play-offs later this year.

So I watched the second half of the Seattle/Pumas game last night (FS1 makes watching possible! %&*& you apple deal). Despite Seattle winning, I find it glorious to see a Mexican team go in complete meltdown mode. So sad it couldn't be the Galaxy doing it.

Since I keep getting adds for it, why is Club America/St. Louis FC being played at Dignity Health Park? (EDIT: this has now been updated to Club America/Colorado on saturday)

Also there was some stuff online about Miami having a basically empty stadium for a leagues cup weeknight match, even when the team decided to offer drastically cheaper tickets the day before (but not reduced parking). Is the countdown on to when Messi retires or leaves that Miami folds?

Regarding MLS Season Pass, it's a pretty good deal: breaks down to less than $3 a match for G's games if you pay the full $99 season price - just over $2 a match if you already have apple TV+ subscription.
Mix in League$ Cup matches and it falls below $2 a match. But wait, there's more, you get ALL the MLS matches not just the G's.

I'm no evangelist for MLS Pass.....sure it was "free" before with spectrum, but they flew the coop, and now G's matches are here and there with Fox. A couple bucks a match isn't too bad.....but I get it, it's another subscription on top of a pile of other subscriptions.

Club America plays at the Digs because of the regional/location bracket in this years tournament, so the Digs is a "home" match. Go figure. It's weird, but since Mex. teams have no "home" matches in this Tournament, they tried to cut down on the travel.

In the end League$ Cup is a garbage money grab tournament of zero significance.
(with the exception that you can punch your ticket to CONCACAF Champions Cup)

....remember US Open Cup?

Meanwhile, I agree Miami has got to win MLS Cup this year or bust.

I think my biggest beef is paying for Directv, having Galaxy games at my whim, and suddenly having to add another subscription made me annoyed. I don't have an Apple+ subscription, but the idea of having to pay extra even with a subscription seemed unnecessary. I still have Directv as I keep primarily for premier league, Kings games, baseball and pro wrestling (which soon enough will also be on subscription providers anyway). I shouldn't complain, I pay for MLB Extra Innings with Directv as I watch a lot of Padres and other games, which probably makes me somewhat of a hypocrite. But hitting the "back" button and having dvr programming on one provider is so much easier than having to switch between apps. Wish they maybe would've done an option with Directv to get the apple type mls package too, but Apple probably would not have gone for it.

Okay I get the bracket. And it will be a big home match for Club America. Kind of sucks for Colorado but what can you do.

Agree. I hate having all the subscriptions.
Cutting the cord back in the day was so much cheaper. I loved it!

Now the corporations all got hip to it, and now it's all broken up into little pieces and the consumer has to pay MORE for LESS.

Yea, that was a real big get!!!! Legit!

Sure no "international" experience, but guy has the chops.

I'm excited! Now start kicking these boys @ss and get them to play to their real potential.

Let's go!
Um, but can they sign an actual contract already? I mean sheesh I know there's formalities to go through but let's get it on paper. Henry just left the France olympic coaching job by the way...

Reus was so dangerous, and yet he looked so effortless out there.

If he stays healthy and gets fit + Dejan starts, it’s going to be glorious!!!!!

A once dangerous quick counter team, now has another option: Build with patient, precise distribution to the final third, and then so many options to score.

Perhaps the G’s should hold a fan ticket lottery when they get a penalty chance.
Any no name fan is just as good as the players on the pitch…..right?

Buckle in G’s….the run to the playoffs is going to be something!!!
