The All Things MLS, NWSL, USMNT/USWNT et al Thread

Yikes.....so much for MLS 3.0, 4.0. 5.0.....The Messi rules era.....whatever you wanted, or hope to call it.

Literally nothing to expand the top of the roster, nor any help to fill out the middle of club's rosters.
Small market OG clubs are really holding the league back.

...and then there was one: Dejan.

Incoming DP striker is almost guaranteed at this point.
....and we still lack speedy wingers
....and we still lack full backs, center backs, off the bench "quality" midfielders.

Kuntz gonna be a busy guy in the next few weeks.

Am I wrong for having little to no faith in Fagundez?

To my eyeballs he really underwhemed.

Should I have faith in a bounce back season for him as he starts a full season with the G's?

Does he start? I dunno.

A 24 year old int'l. winger DP!?!?!? This is very un-Galaxy.

Where is my 36 year old, partiall- broken, has been, big name winger?

It's guys I don't know well, which burned me on Cabral amongst others.
Understood.
However Cabral (et al) were guys Vanney "knew".........VS guys Kuntz knows.

Seeing Kuntz vs Vanney track record in roster buidling,, I'm going to put my money on Kuntz evaluation of talent.

I agree, but have zero confidence Vanney can or will want to coach guys that Kuntz, not he, has brought in. You'd think Kuntz would want his own head coach too...

MLS bails out of US open Cup.

Yes to $$$$ grab Leagues Cup
Yes to mega-rounds of games in the first round of the playoffs.

No to the longest held US Tournament.

MLS making some bonehead decisions.

Teams needed rule changes to fill out the middle of their rosters, and the ability to get more top tier players via 4th DP to help with the massive schedule of games.

MLS answer is no help in the rule change department, but they will bail out of the best tournament the league has.

Time for Garber to go.
League needs new blood for a new era.

BOOM :)

LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023) The LA Galaxy today announced that the club acquired the player rights to forward Miguel Berry from Atlanta United in exchange for LA’s natural second round pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft.
Berry, 26, has recorded 11 goals and three assists in 75 career regular-season matches played (40 starts) across four MLS seasons with the Columbus Crew (2021-22), D.C. United (2022) and Atlanta United (2023). The forward logged one goal and one assist in 27 appearances (10 starts) for Atlanta during the 2023 MLS Regular Season. In his rookie season with Columbus, Berry logged eight goals and two assists in 18 matches played (9 starts) during the 2021 campaign.

Hmmm....last years stats have him producing less than Sharp and Judd.
Seems like a roster fill spot at forward, but I dunno.

US Soccer just gave MLS two middle fingers regarding the Open Cup and MLS wanting their third tier squads to be the only "MLS" participants in the Open Cup. Good for US Soccer! Bravo!

This offseason for the MLS as a league in terms of rules and decisions has been awful!!
I mean it's interesting, hasn't MLS really been sending second string or MLS Pro teams in the open cup until the much later rounds anyway? Was MLS' first release just a ploy to get better incentives for taking the tournament seriously?
