The All Things MLS, NWSL, USMNT/USWNT et al Thread

Part of the value of coming back to season tickets this year was guaranteed playoff priority/prices. After I tried getting Western final or MLS Cup tickets on the secondary market last year which was a trainwreck with prices. The hope was to be able to sell games I can't make it to on the secondary market to make some of if not most of the money back (not in it to make money). Much harder this year when they have been an awful team. I have a very easy time selling my Kings tickets though if I can't make games.

I also made the mistake of trying driving to a Wednesday night game a week or two ago and will never do that again unless it's a massive game

I asked about the small increase given the team's struggles this season and have not yet heard back :)
Yea, I hear ya.

Team may well be on track for the worst season on record, and yet they raise prices.
Punch to the b@lls of the STMs.

$2 bucks a ticket is almost an insult.....as if to say they know they shouldn't charge more, but they want to get something more from you....because we gotta get MORE $$$ !!!!

Thankfully this year that Rizon kit is "meh" to me, so I'm not interested in dumping coin on that.

I still am not interested in buying new jerseys until Herbalife is off it. I can get t shirts without it for the time being.

However if you get the retro throw back third jersey, that garbage pyramid scheme sponsor is on the back....and if the jersey is ever just a bit long, you can sit your @ss right on the sponsor. It's poetic justice!

I mean Pec and Yoshida apparently weren't going to play Friday so the postponement may be a good thing in our quest not to finish dead last.

And as a big tottenham fan, this news of Son possibly going to LAFC is really soul crushing...

Didn’t watch, but hey, G’s scored goals in bunches against a poor form Xolos side.

Onward in the cash grab tournament!
That was an atrocious defensive showing from both teams as you'll ever see!

I was all over Paintsill after he missed a PK and went offsides on two potential goals. And he comes back to dominate the second half. Love that man!

Cruz Azul was utterly dismantled by Seattle 7-0 so it'll be interesting to see how they come out Sunday.

Nothing would be funnier than the Galaxy winning this tournament.

So, can we all agree now that Cuevas should be a starter?
Dude consistently delivers excellent service into the box....over and over again.
Not only that but he scored on his PK.

Now that that is out of the way......

Sell or loan Sanabria. That kid brings ZERO to the pitch, and actually hurts the G's.
He should never start, and probably should not even be a sub option to be honest.
He is a bust.

Vanney will ride Reus into the ground.

Paintsil is a headcase....sadly.....I dunno what's going on with him.
Flops around, and get so upset so easy. Such talent, but something is wrong.
He seems to have lost his mojo. Loses his focus if a call does not go his way.

Micovic is NOT the future G's goalkeeper. He looked so out of place on the penalties.
G's have 4...count'em....4 Goalkeepers. WHY?
Do the G's really want to go through another season trying to "train, and teach" Micovic?
There are plenty of GK options out there. How bout we dump all four and get 2 serviceable GK in return?

Gonna be a bit tougher after losing on PK's, but nice to see the G's still in the cash grab tournament.

I mean my thoughts pretty much mirror exactly what you said.

Micovic looked scared and completely inept on those PK's. The G's had some very nice PKs. It's too bad he couldn't get one save before we got the 8th or 9th players.

Cuevas, what a freaking cross to Pec for the goal. Yes, he should be starting. Cross after cross that are brilliant. Unless it's a conditioning issue but how you gonna get by that without playing more.

I kind of get leaving Reus in knowing you had PKs coming up. Otherwise take him the f out when he looks even remotely injured. But that opportunity early in the 1st half and the breakaway at the end of the game he had. My man please bury one of those.

Let's be honest, that referee was terrible. I forgive Paintsill for the ref calling a foul on him when he had his jersey tugged and was pulled to the ground. Nevertheless, he was visibly shaking angry. Cruz Azul seemed to play into that. I mean they had to calm him down on the bench after regulation (he still had a very nice PK). He had a few other times where goals could've been scored and he whiffed or lost the ball. I was waiting for 2nd half Paintsill to come in and finally score one, alas no.

Pec - love the guy. But please stop trying to dribble through 4 guys, or trying to back up into a guy and either go by him or get pulled down.

I'm still kind of confused as the "top 4 teams advance" rules for MLS and Liga MX teams in this tournament. From what I was told, the G's most likely will have to win in regulation and probably by 3+ goals thursday to have a shot at going through. Weird rules. At least playing last on Thursday they'll know what they have to do before the game.

I can't figure out how Cruz Azul lost 7-0 to Seattle.

Agree about Pec as well.

As far as the how to advance out of the group stage.....could it be more complex?

Even the announcers were saying things like "still trying to figure it out".

I do know that the G's have pretty much the last game of the group stage overall, and with that they will be able to know EXACTLY what they will need to do to advance. So that is a distinct advantage.

As a big Tottenham fan, Son to LAFC is crushing my soul. Very hard for me to ever root against him. Might just wear my spurs gear when they play next year with a "Son always in our hearts, even with a black tainted soul. COYS COYG" sign or something :)

Yea, it's a pretty dark feeling.

I felt that way when Chiellini went to Chivas as well.
Legend for Juventus, and the national team.

S. Korea national team manager Hong Myung-bo is a former G.
Too bad he couldn't convince Son to go to Galaxy......yea I know, no matter what he would say the G's would have no money for him anyway. Such a waste of an opportunity.

I tried hard with Myung-bo. But didn't have the connection I do with Son. My kids have his book, my son in soccer does his camera celebration all the time. Hurts more than Bale really. I always use his smile as the way people should be. Just don't ever want to see it scoring against the G's.

My younger one said to me yesterday "maybe the Galaxy can sign Kane in a year". Riiight.

As far as a kid (or an adult) idolizing a football star.....Son Heung-min is an excellent choice.
He is very talented, and humble, and appears to be a solid human being on and off the pitch.

As far as the Galaxy getting another "star", let's hope Kuntz is playing the long game, and has some feelers out there and is making contacts now so that the winter or next summer transfer window is big.

Hmm. Interesting. I just stopped watching "man punches kangaroo to save a dog" to Google this guy. Worth it.

Yes, Harry Kane next summer. Because the Kane vs. Son El Trafico marketing possibilities are endless.... :)
