It all ends tonight....right?

I can't have any hope anymore with this roster and this coach.

It's the hope that kills ya.

I'm going to keep this streak going:

It all ends at the semi-finals against Seattle.....right?

I can't have any hope anymore with this roster and this coach.

In other news,

Sources: Nashville SC sign on-loan winger Jonathan Perez to a permanent deal from the LA Galaxy.

Galaxy will receive $1.5m cash trade for Perez + $300k add-ons. Signs new U-22 initiative deal.

Perez, 22, has 29 apps with Nashville after joining on loan last year.

Sources: The New York Red Bulls agree a deal to acquire goalkeeper John McCarthy from the LA Galaxy.McCarthy, 33, is a two-time MLS Cup winner, including being named MLS Cup MVP in 2022 with LAFC.

Really? That's the return?!?!?!
I guess we may see Marcinkowski in goal this weekend.

The whole 4 goalkeepers thing is mismanagement on a significant level.
Kuntz could not get one good offer for JMac in the past offseason after JMac got ANOTHER MLS Cup?!?!

Now the G's get virtually nothing for him.
Perhaps Kuntz thought he was worth more than he was, and waited too long, and now he is essentially given away.

Thanks JMac! Once a G, always a G.

Sidebar: The return for sale of Perez is pretty good.

Glad to see the kid get starts.
He is good for most MLS teams, he just never was going to get a crack at the lineup much here in LA with the P's starting.

Yeah that was a decent amount of money on return

So "if" ........and that's a BIG "if".......If things go the G's way they can end up with two trophies, and a ticket punched to CCC next year.......and a wooden spoon for being the worst team in MLS.

Or

At the very minimum, a wooden spoon.

Only got to watch the recap/highlights, but boy did that look like a fun match!
Some real beautiful football on some of those attacks.

Nice to see the kids show that some of them have some real potential.
Let's hope they continue to develop to help the G's have a deep bench.

Sure the Rapids defense looked real bad, and there is NO way the Sounders would play this poorly on Wednesday. That being said, the confidence of a win like that certainly helps!

Onward to Leagues Cup.

G's up!

A lot of fun to watch. Play the kids then man!

Seattle rolled out a b team too and still won 5-2.

Wednesday gonna be "interesting"

Sounders Update:
The following players will not be available for the Leagues Cup match against the G's:

Starting 10 Rusnak - injury
Starting winger Arriola - injury
Bench winger Kent - injury
Starting striker Morris, - injury
Bench striker Musovski - suspended from Leagues Cup.

Sounders defense however remains VERY solid.

G's Update:

Nasci is questionable for tonight's match according to Vanney.

Puig still weeks away from starting the process of determining if he will get into any matches this season.

Embarrassing defense.

Thank god he started Berry. right.

Seattle gets shots off so quick. We make 89 passes for nothing.

We get to play them again in 2 weeks. Yay

Just put the Colorado lineup out from here on out

Once I saw that lineup, I said the G's are done.

Who's to blame for this awful season?

#1 Vanney: He is an "ok" MLS coach at best. He is a brilliant MLS coach if he has the exact, perfect players that fit his one-trick pony system. Anything short of that and the whole thing goes off the rails. He cannot adjust, and when he does it rarely works. Other teams know this, and only have to address the typical Vanney Galaxy "tactics".

#2 Kuntz: Sure MLS is to blame for why Kuntz had to jettison so many players, but nearly every new acquisition is a bust for this season. Not only that, but his manager (who he resigned) does not use the pieces he acquired.

#3 MLS: A system that rips apart championship teams, and teams that want to spend is really bad for the league.

The G's have a TON to do in this offseason.

My fear is they rely solely on Puig coming back to re-set everything, and he gets hurt again next year.

Agreed.
Don't fear....that IS the plan.

Vanney did hardly anything this season to adapt the tactics and style of play.
IMHO it's why the following still happens:

a) Horrible defending (same as it was with Puig, same as it is without him....made worse by getting rid of Jalen and replacing with Zanka...and Yoshida a year older, a year too much)

b) Same possession based attack made worse without having a mobile 8 or 10.
Puig and Delgado replaced with Reus and Fagundez, Sanabria, Wynder, et al.....drop in any name here)

The whole system has become "lazy" as it relies on one player to make it work.
Vanney (knowing Puig would be gone the entire season) didn't alter the system. He just plugged in random players into Puig's spot and said "go".

Schmetzer probably laughs at Vanney.
Dude has a massive chunk of his offense gone, and yet he adapts and get the best out of the players he has.
He revises tactics to fit the players available.

It's very apparent to me that the system is exactly as it was for last season.
Case in point: The offense gets to the final 3rd and everyone stays still. Very little movement off the ball.
Passes laterally back and forth. Very little North-South movement.
It lacks movement and speed. What would provide the missing movement and speed? Puig.

It's like all year they get to the final 3rd and are looking for somebody with the ball to do Puig things.

Last season they did this quite a bit too. They stood around waiting.
It "worked" because when Puig drew 2 players to him, and with speed, dribbled away it created havoc, and opened things up...then he would make a pass and keep moving or dribble to the top of the box, and everything would shuffle and open up for shots, rebounds, passes in the box.

Keep in mind, last season (even with Puig) there were quite a few shots/goals from outside the box.

Vanney has no answers for how to be lethal in the final third. Vanney's system has very little movement off the ball.
