Sources: Messi, Miami near multiyear extension
Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are nearing a final agreement on a new multiyear contract with the deal expected to be completed soon, sources told ESPN.
It makes sense for Miami & MLS ($$$ machine keeps printing).
Makes sense for Messi (living in Miami)
However, as a fan how long can he really keep this up?
He has already shown "wear & tear" already.
What about when the rest of the former Barca players are gone, how will Miami look without them and with "old" Messi?
Nobody wants to see the GOAT fall apart, and play like a shell of his former ability.

He has already shown "wear & tear" already.
What about when the rest of the former Barca players are gone, how will Miami look without them and with "old" Messi?
Nobody wants to see the GOAT fall apart, and play like a shell of his former ability.
G's are done....surprised they lasted all the way into late September.
Pec is a mess.
This club clearly needs a legit #1 striker. (probably would help Pec)
Paintsil has improved as the season has winded down (he could be helped with a legit striker as well)
Defense needs a ton of work (seems like we have been saying that every year Vanney has been here)
2 New young-er CB's are a must for next season (perhaps ones with some height as well)
Micovic can make some huge saves.
If Cuevas can learn to defend, then Yamane could be expendable.
The season's HUGE busts:
Sanabria (boy did the G's pay some big $$$ for him)
Zanka (everyone from his former club was warning fans about what they were getting)
Ramirez (either he hit the downside of his career this year with the G's, or Vanney's system does not work with him)
Sadly the above were not really additions to the squad but replacements for what left.
Missed on all of them.
Regarding Nasci, unless we can extend the loan for peanuts, I'd let him go. No disrespect, but there are a ton of strikers in the world, and I don't think the G's need a project kid to carry next season. Get two legit strikers.

So I paid for Cozmo to visit our seat and wish my son a happy 11th birthday. That was the highlight of the night. They also had a season ticket member carnival yesterday and we got autographs and pictures with Paintsil and Reus. Paintsil has the thickest accent I've ever heard 
Our left back was annihilated early by Cincy. It was ugly. Pec was unlucky not to score a couple times. He and Paintsil would benefit sooo much from a legit striker. Imagine we get Puig back and a striker. And some defensive help. As you said, Zanka and Sanabria gone. Nascimento, I don't even care, gone. I told a staff member yesterday they need to sign Harry Kane; she just laughed and said "hey we all can dream".

Numero Dos: We are stuck with Sanabria - 5 year contract, U-22, & G's spent $5 mill on transfer fee. Woof!
Numero Tres: Kane has a release clause that is triggered in Jan. 2026...but that would mean the G's would have to spend a transfer fee, because his real contract is not up until 2027. Dare to dream indeed!
Numero Cuatro: Somebody is going to pick up Lewendowski after World Cup. I bet the G's pick him up on a TAM deal. (since he'd be nearly 38 next summer) Supersub striker? If you can get him for TAM, you absolutely do it. Sure he's not Kane, but Kane would be a DP. Who are you selling for Kane? Paintsil & Pec are 2027 and 2028 end of contract dates respectively.
Transfers around World Cups are always interesting.

Tottenham has first buy back option for Kane anyway I think, and I doubt he's in any rush to come here. But I can dream...and sell whoever or whatever it takes damn it!
If TAM I wouldn't mind Lewandowski. I worry about him staying healthy given the age and MLS travel. But if he just plays as a target that could be interesting.
Reus had a little brace on his hand (like you'd wear for carpel tunnel) yesterday. Not sure if that's related to why he didn't play Saturday night.

Don't think it will happen soon, but then again Zlatan, Son, Messi.....it's entirely possible.
"Maybe" MLS will modify their rules this offseason in anticipation of the WC, and allow a 4th DP, or get rid of Garber Bucks, or increase the cap massively.....SOMETHING!
I'm cool if Reus does not play another match this season.
Dude has been ridden hard...no need to ride him into the ground.
He has one more year on his contract, and I'd like to see him in a role of a supersub next season.
