The Avengers/Marvel movies

Gonna try to see it today...despite not really wanting to. This review actually helps me to think it may not be a couple wasted hours. Thanks.

See it at the Chinese in IMAX Laser. Your eyeballs will thank you.

Nah, went with the standard at the grove...tired of all the upgrades/bells & whistles. Will hold off till Saturday, but i have a LOT of thoughts about this movie. Very very mixed. My number one complaint...they are so busy spinning off threads into other movies that the actual story seemed to take a back seat at times. I think Whedon did a fine job...but that's it. Nothing special. It's time for him to walk away because he is capable of more. This movie was a LOT better than the first, but it was still flawed severely. It's like it's just too big at this point for anyone to really grip hard enough to make a lean, concise movie. For what it was, it was a perfectly fine time at the movies...just almost instantly forgettable immediately afterwards.

I can't agree with this enough. Also, to be fair, this has been their MO since...what...Iron Man 2?

Not to the shameless extent of this movie though. I constantly had to keep saying to myself 'oh, ok...we are back to the Avengers movie now. that preview for Thor 3, Black Panther, etc., sure looked promising though...'.

Totally agree with all of this. I really, really enjoyed it and I can totally see myself watching it again and again. And I like it better than the first Avengers (mostly because of Scarlet Witch and The Vision OMGGGGGGGGG <3<3<3) but overall the story really suffered because they were too busy setting up future movies. It felt like a placeholder.
It did make me super excited for Thor: Ragnarok though.
