‘Captain America: Civil War’ Might Give Some Weight To All Those Steve Rogers And Bucky Theories
http://uproxx.com/movies/2015/12/captain-america-bucky-sexuality/

One of the more interesting questions revolved around the relationship between Bucky and Captain America, mainly if the two former friends turned foes turned friends again were actually feeling a bit of a romantic attachment to each other in the new film:

“People can interpret the relationship however they want to interpret it. For us, we’ve always interpreted the relationship as two brothers. They’re very close characters, they have a relationship with each other that is very deep. The bonds between the characters are very strong. That’s what motivates the storytelling. These are both characters that came from nothing. Captain America was basically an orphan, and Bucky’s family took him in… When he was sleep for several years, he lost everything that was dear to him. And when he took the serum and became Captain America, he gave away a large part of himself for a patriotic cause. So, you have a character who is searching for the only thing that he has left from his past… and that’s Bucky. And people have interpreted that relationship all kinds of ways, and it’s great to see people argue about it what that relationship means to them. We will never define it as filmmakers, explicitly, but however people want to interpret it.”

Benedict Cumberbatch Gets Magical—and Weird—in New ‘Doctor Strange’ Images

Certainly interesting stuff so far. The director is an offbeat choice. Sinister was good...but it feels like they went for a low $$$$/decent potential choice, like the guy who did AntMan. So, someone they can force to fit their wishes with a minimum of pushback. Wish Marvel would let directors direct...instead of micromanaging. Could be something different, more than likely it will be safe and workmanlike.

I wasn't super into the casting of Benedict Cumberbatch, but he certainly looks the part.

Also....IS THAT AN INFINITY STONE IN THE EYE OF AGOMATTO?! Soul gem, maybe?

I dunno. Castle with a shaved head? Doesn't work for me. Bernthal is good, don't get me wrong...but with that look he just looks like Shane. And street clothes too. Man, if ANYONE has a look, it's the Punisher. You may not want to do the Giant Skull shirt, but tactical black clothing...is that too much to ask? Maybe that's why the Punisher hasn't worked so far (slavish devotion to canon)*. But, come on...you gotta have some visual connection besides just calling someone a thing.

*btw, the Ray Stevenson version SHOULD have been awesome. It had all the benchmarks...EXCEPT that they made Castle a weepy bitch. So f'n close. I even kinda liked Thomas Jane's version

Agree completely. The skull HAS to be there. Maybe he doesn't start using it until later? I dunno, but even if it's just a spraypaint stencil...

There are bits and pieces of all three movies that are awesome. Yeah, even Dolph's.

I f'ing love the Jane version. His self funded "info-mercial" where Frank/Jane is doing his laundry and trashes the neighborhood bullies was one of the most original bits I have ever seen.

I have faith they will get Punisher right on Daredevil. It took them time to get the iconic suit for Murdock. They will figure it out ...

Kevin Feige Says ‘Doctor Strange’ Will “Screw Around with Time”
http://collider.com/doctor-strange-movie-time-travel-marvel/

Get ready for things to get super mind-bendy. In an interview with EW, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige described the unusual superpowers of Benedict Cumberbatch’s sorcerer Stephen Strange, including his signature statement piece, The Eye of Agamotto.

Feige explained,

“In this film, the Eye is a very important relic that can be quite dangerous if used in the wrong hands, because it has the ability to do any number of things, the most dangerous of which is, it can sort of manipulate probabilities. Which is also another way of saying, ‘screw around with time’ — which is part of our story.”

That sounds an awful lot like Doctor Strange might just introduce the most powerful infinity stone yet — possibly the time gem — a logical step considering the MCU is currently building towards the epic two-parter, Avengers: Infinity War, which will see the Earth’s Mightiest square off against Thanos and his almighty Infinity stone-encrusted gauntlet. And using magic as a means to introduce time travel to the MCU makes a whole lot of sense.

Feige also described a host of Doctor Strange’s abilities — or, at least, his eventual abilities. As an origin story, it’s likely that we won’t see Doctor Strange up to full power until the end of the film, and even then, it sounds like we won’t be getting the full picture of his powers.

Said Feige,

“He does cast spells, which in the comics have very sort of tongue-twisty fun names. We don’t want to shy away from that, because that’s what makes Doctor Strange Doctor Strange. He has a Cloak of Levitation that allows him to fly, but he doesn’t fly like Superman or like Thor. It’s almost got a consciousness of its own, this cloak, which, again, gives us a superhero with a red cape — which we’ve seen a few times — but allows us to do it in a wholly unique and wholly original way. He can create these mandalas of light that he can use as shields and he can use as sort of weapons. He can create portalas that will open before your eyes that he can step through and go to other places around the world. And frankly, even in this film, we’ll only touch upon what a lot of his powers are.”

Joss Whedon Elaborates on His Exit from Marvel, Response to ‘Age of Ultron’
http://collider.com/joss-whedon-marvel-exit-avengers-age-of-ultron/

“…I was their sort of consigliere for a while… We do not discuss our thing… [audience laughter] But, I sort of had my finger in all of the films in the second phase, but then I just had to concentrate only on Ultron, and sort of know when it was done I was just going to stop. So I made a completely clean break – not because we had a falling out – just because I was like, ‘I can’t…’ If I was still there going, ‘Well, here are my thoughts on this film,’ I’d be there every day. I wouldn’t do anything else because there are a lot of films, and it is a lot of fun. It’s very seductive. When you can put your little fairy dust on things and just improve them slighty, and they actually listen to you… I was a script doctor for a long time, and the part where they listen to you was very rare; so it was very important for my own self to go ‘we can still be friends,’ but…”

Great release date. Counter programming flicks tend to do well in that slot. Lego Movie 2 years ago, Kingsmen last year...clearly positive word of mouth is more important than playing to the Valentine's theme. Make no mistake...if you want Superhero movies to continue to stretch and grow...you NEED to see this opening weekend and make it a hit. If this movie fails, THERE WILL LIKELY NEVER BE AN R-RATED SUPERHERO MOVIE EVER AGAIN. It's that important. Vote with your wallet...
