Punisher #14: Anti-hero Redefined | CraveOnline

Initial reaction to reading where this was heading had me rolling eyes. Rest of the review makes me wonder if that might be overreaction. Adgy, are you reading this?

**** yes, I'm reading it. It took a few issues for me to "get" Rucka's take on the character, but as of now it's one of my top 5 books every month. Haven't read that review yet, but I gave it a cursory glance and I can tell you that while I am enjoying the **** out of the book, I did not ever get the feeling that the character was being redefined or that it was going to change the character forever. There is most certainly a gigantic lean towards Frank Castle being and acting like a soldier, that works really well and may be an angle used by future writers, but beyond that it's just another take on the character. A really good one.

Review: Scalped #60 - Comic Book Resources

But I don't want it to end! :pssst:

I wanna work at an Indian Casino though.

I've actually got BoobyTrap reading the trades and she's made it to book #7! I really expected her to hate it (almost by default), and she's probably going to be mad at me for not having all the trades yet.

The Amazing Spider-Man Limited Edition Box Set Revealed | Superhero Hype

When it comes to comics, I am a newbie. I just started getting into comics a little over two months ago. Even though I'm starting to become a lot more knowledgeable, there's just so much out there that it can be daunting at times, more so when it comes to the Marvel and DC universe with their decades of backstories.

The friend who got me interested in comics is almost strictly a Marvel guy, but I find that much too limiting. Unfortunately, it also means he can't help me all that much when it comes to recommendations, which is why I summoned up the courage to venture into this thread. All of you seem quite knowledgeable and have a diverse taste akin to my own when I noticed Preacher and 100 Bullets mentioned in this thread, just to name a few.

So my apologies in advance for my ignorance at times, but give a girl a break, I'm new at this! Hopefully, given some more time, I can contribute more to this thread rather than just lurking about.

Ass-kicking priests comic The Order coming to the big screen | Blastr

Vatican priests with a penchant for the paranormal may be coming to a theater near you soon, as the graphic novel The Order has officially been optioned for a movie deal.

Developed by Arcana/Benderspink, the comic is based around an elite team brought together by the Vatican to "travel the world and combat supernatural forces." If there were ever a premise destined to become an awesome film, that'd be it.

Producer Scott Stuber (Ted) is locked in once his schedule clears, and the team behind the comic will also be involved with the development of the storyline and script.

It's definitely a cool premise, and could work almost like a mix between Constantine and ABC's short-lived TV series Miracles, with a little more crazy action thrown in for good measure.

or like Vampires...anyone remember that? Pretty entertaining little flick.

Remember in the 90's, lol, when Image number one were worth all your allowance and you thought they would help you get through to college?

Anybody wanna buy my Youngblood #1? ;)

All I really know is that it's Morrison and Robertson and it's a limited series. I think it's about a hitman and there's a lot of cussing apparently. Honestly, that was enough for me, so I haven't read anything else about it, wanting to go in not knowing. There are previews of the first issue on the internets, though. I've had to intentionally avoid them.

Just ordered the first TRANSMETROPOLITAN tpb.

Awesome! The first one is just three issues, unless the changed that with the new print run, and it's not the book at it's best, but hopefully it'll be enough to pique your interest.

in an effort to NOT confound Orpheus I just ordered the first DELUXE edition of 100 BULLETS

Ooooooh. Nice.

Welcome! Seriously, anything we can do to help!

The John Carpenter flick? Love it.

Comixology is offering 20 #1's from Image as free downloads. Fatale, Saga, and Mind the Gap are some of the ones I was interested in checking out.

Image 2012 #1's - Now Free! Digital Comic Collection - Comics by comiXology

Ok, seriously, Image today is putting out a metric **** ton of great comics. Original, creative and impressive stuff. The exact opposite of what's happening at the Big 2 these days. On that page alone I'm reading and recommend:

Fatale
Prophet (best sci-fi comic ever????)
Glory
Saga
The Manhattan Projects
Secret
Mind The Gap
Planetoid

The others I'm waiting to read in trade. Seriously, give them a try if you do the e-comic thing at all.

Dredd Movie And Sequels Chat – Alex Garland Answers The Fans | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

If I was involved in a second movie, it would be about origins and subversion, and Chopper would feature. In fact, I think Chopper would start and end the story. Apart from him, my rough plan involves Fargo, Giant, Angel Gang, and a version of Satanus. For a trilogy, add Cal and the Dark Judges. And Anderson would be in all three. But? just to be clear, this is hugely speculative and also unlikely, for any number of reasons? There are some variables which would rule me out [of any sequel] immediately.

I think I?d try to make [the Dark Judges] really scary. Not play them for laughs. Just make them totally malevolent and lethal. And use practical effects where possible, except for Fire, which would be an on-set nightmare.

The existential side to the Dark Judges is that they don?t see a point to life. If my film-trilogy daydream was to play out, I would completely rewrite my original script for the Dark Judges ? because it was junk ? and start again.

If there is a sequel, I?m imagining spending about half the movie in the Cursed Earth, and I would try to come up with some new faces as well as some old ones? I quite like the idea of Satanus. But much more mutated.

But by the way, just so it has been said, I actually think that maybe the best way forward for Dredd is television. American TV has completely rewritten the rule book where filmed drama is concerned. Game Of Thrones/The Wire/Breaking Bad? An equivalent version of Dredd would be ****ing great. Imagine the epics?

This one is for Adgy...you seem to be the only forward thinking chap who has been reading THE BOYS...ok, so I am re-reading...and SO many things make more sense. The biggest revelation may be when Black Noir gave Wee Hughie the 'thumbs up' @ Herogasm. And Butcher and Hughies constant(and tiresome) philisophical debates...wow, Ennis lays some goddamned pipe don't he????? If you have the TPBS I recommend re-reading because a lot of stuff is making horrible sense now.I am soooooo gonna miss this book.
