The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

We have confirmation of X-Men: Days of Future Past being filmed in and released in 48fps! - Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.

Swell. Someday the tech that everyone is so quick to embrace won't look like a ****ty episode of Dr Who/Space 1999 from the early '70's.

From the comments: Fox denies the rumor…

‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ Will Not Be Shot in 48ps | Variety

Meanwhile, I would not be as concerned about an X-Men movie in 48fps as long as it looked good.

It wasn't the frame rate that bothered me about the look of The Hobbit. It was the color timing. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's possible to have enhanced frame rate and still create a visual style that more closely resembles the theatrical films to which some of us old timers have been accustomed. There's no mistaking that the expectations will change as technologies change, but the look, in terms of contrast and color saturation, achieved by The Hobbit is not new. It's been around for many years on video, and that's exactly what bothered me about The Hobbit, and made it look cheap, IMO.

All things considered, The Hobbit may be the direction we're heading in terms of visual style. I have a friend whose TV set can ruin even the best-transferred film image and artificially make it look like video. He loves it, but it makes me sick to watch it. It makes me believe that if The Hobbit look was truly ahead of its time, Sony Handycam can boast they perfected that look years and years ago.

Of all the great news in this interview, this was my favorite.

Superior Spider-Man and Friends...Or Is It Amazing? Panel at New York Comic Con - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Kelly Sue DeConnick was “terrified” as they homed in on an announcement for her, coming in March Captain Marvel #1, relaunching with DeConnick and David Lopez! They’ll be taking her to space in a “Flash Gordony, Buck Rogersy” kind of way. “Higher, Faster, Further, More” is the title on the storyline. Carol is on her way up, said DeConnick, “And we’re going to let her go”.

Another reboot with the same writer. At least there's a decent artist this time.

Elektra #1 by Zed Wells and Mike Del Mundo coming in March 2014. She’s going to have her traditional costume but it will “cover up her butt a little more” as Amanat prefers.

Punisher #1 is coming from Nathan Edmondson and Mitch Gerads in February 2014. They are moving Frank Castle out to the West Coast and he has to find “the head of the snake” with a whole new set of villains as well as some Marvel universe villains. He is the “hunted” in the story.

This could be so cool ... if they do it right!

I think all the people who are trying to get it made have the right frame of mind. The X-Force movie in the works either is the push that gets it made or the full collapse that initiates some really bad version of the property. Ryan Reynolds being the poster boy for flops DOES NOT HELP. But really, outside of a young Bruce Campbell I do not think anyone is better suited.

Going to have to at least check out the Death's Head and Dark Angel books.
