The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

Looks really heavy...and more than a little...well, gay really. I have to say it. It's like old Prof X is begging Wolverine to be gentle with him it's his first time. Is it just me? Am I reading in too much?

Oh my god YES!

You're worse than one of those *******s who always points out how gay sports are because of all the butt patting.

SOMETIMES A CIGAR IS JUST A CIGAR!!!!!!

EDIT : Altho to be fair... Bryan Singer is gay and adopted and I did accuse him of making Superman Returns all about being gay and adopted....

Looking forward to this. Doesn't look gay to me, especially up against Singer's other superhero movies.

I didn't mean to be derogatory...but it really played a little Brokeback for me. Most comics have serious homoerotic subtext so it's not a big deal...just thought they amped it up in the trailer. Still want to see it, but as great as it should be you just know they will not capture that storyline with the quality it deserves. Much like the recent Wolverine flick.

This actually looks better than I'd expected, and might be a good way for them to make First Class a reboot with saying reboot. I was against the idea of keeping in "continuity" with the original trilogy (because it mostly sucked), but if that means you have to re-cast Xavier and Magneto... how could you? But now, they can keep the same cast AND say that they changed the past so that all the crap that happened in the original trilogy will not happen and they can do it all over again.

****, it's actually kind of smart. In the movie, Xavier and Maggie send Wolverine back because the world is so ****ed up (like the franchise) and they want him to alter it so they get a do-over.

The only real question is whether or not Singer pulls it off, I guess.

It looks really good and I love the way it ties everything together. The first two X-Men movies were great and the third one was an abortion that has a well-earned place on the shelf of Movies That Never Happened with Indy 4, Alien 3, Alien/Predator 1 and 2, and Phantom Menace. Worthless plot and lame climax aside, the way they did Cyclops because they were bitter about the actor going with Singer to make that Superman movie is one of the most disgraceful things ever.

I liked Crystal Skull. I kind of dig Alien 3, too.

I saw Alien:Resurrection with my GF at the time at the theaters, she thought the film was, in Cartman's words, "Sweet."

Not as Sweet as her.

And yeah, we eventually broke up.

And yet because it wasn't a messy break up, I can still watch said film and enjoy it.

It is true, that if you associate a film with an ex who you had a messy break up with, you'll have hard time enjoying it regardless of how good the film is. :/

I won't say which movie was ruined for me because of that....

Dude ... no way! That movie sucked! And to think Spielberg, Ford AND Lucas fed us that??!! And Ford says he has more interest in that character????

Max Landis On The Chronicle Sequels And Wonder Woman Pitch We'll Never Get To See - Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Interesting stuff...damn the sequel idea for Chronicle sounds like it would have been a self sustaining sequel generator. And it would have probably begat movies as compelling as the original. But it wasn't safe...so we get boned again. The eventual sequel will ape the original without having any of the creativity, freshness or excitement. Well done Hollywood. I know the jury is still out on his dad(literally) but I look forward to Max Landis' future.
