Gina Carano Should Play WONDER WOMAN

There’s no need to keep searching for the right actress, Warner Bros.; Gina Carano is Wonder Woman. While you might think I’m joking around….I’m not. That’s because after watching director Steven Soderbergh’s awesome spy-action pic Haywire twice, I really believe Carano is who you’re looking for. After everyone gets the chance to see her kick ass next week (the pic opens January 20), I’m extremely confident that fandom will agree with me. Hire a new writer to craft a script with Carano in mind; they’ll be inspired. I think one of the reasons Wonder Woman hasn’t come together is you didn’t know who to cast. Thankfully, the search is over.

I said that on here a couple years ago and Dr Naysay insulted me.

I'm not agreeing with that post until i see if she can act. I just posted it in the general interest. She is a little man-ny though. She was interviewed on AOTS and said something along the lines of how she was the son her father never had, and whatshername said, 'he must be proud'...and it seemed a little awkward from that point. She seems a little punchy. I'm not sure she has any more talent than Kimbo Slice at this point.

I don't disagree with anything you said here.

HEH,

Hey, Doc, are you heartbroken?

Good riddance to bad rubbish or whatever...

Honestly I tried to read all 52 titles and ultimately it just made me stop reading comics again. I just... bleh... in my opinion they handled their reboot so p*ss poorly. But what do I know I'm sure they're rolling in the dough.

Also **** Grant Morrison.

That's my THING!!! IT'S WHAT I DO!!!

Fox Wants CHRONICLE Director for FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot

This Chronicle movie is getting a LOT of buzz. And if this guy gets such a high profile gig out of it there may be some substance to it.

And btw, if they want to establish a true comic book universe in the movies they really NEED to get Victor Von Doom right. In the good old days of Marvel, there was Doom, and then there were all the other villians. Doom is epic and all that a centerpiece bad guy should be. The biggest fail of those FF movies was that they made him seem like a petulant fading male model. Doom should be an iron fisted tyrant(draw some nice parallels to current world leaders) and just an almost godlike being. And for ****s sake...don't mess up the look.

Has Fox Shot 8 Minutes of R-rated DEADPOOL Test Footage?

While it seems like we’re hit with an ever-increasing barrage of superhero movies each year, Deadpool is surely one of the most anticipated that’s yet to see the light of day. The film has been in the works for years now, and finally got some movement when visual effects guru Tim Miller was set as director last April. It’s a hard sell, as star Ryan Reynolds and those creatively involved are adamant that the feature be true to the comic and therefore rated R. Word on the project has been quiet for some time, but comic writer/illustrator Rob Liefeld recently let slip that he may or may not have seen eight minutes of test footage from the film. Details after the jump.

Liefeld and Scott Lobdell participated in a panel at the Amazing Arizona Comic Con last weekend, and Liefeld had the following to say about Deadpool (via Bleeding Cool):

“They’ve got a great director on the movie, they’ve got a great script. I may or may have not seen some sort of test of footage that would blow your mind if you saw it and go holy crap and that’s Deadpool in costume. Katana swords, guns, shooting people’s faces off and making me laugh. And I may or may not have seen something that looks just like that. And you’ve got what would amount to the first R-rated X-Men movie. Because that script is R-rated.

They may or may not have wanted to shoot eight minutes to see how it would play. And all I can tell you, it’s close. It’s closer that it’s even been to going, or going Naaah, that’s too scary a proposition to make an R-rated Deadpool movie.”

If what Liefeld has to say is indeed true, then this is very, very exciting news. It’s not surprising that Fox would want to see some test footage of an R-rated version of Deadpool before giving the go-ahead on the feature film. The market for R-rated superhero movies is indeed a niche one, but it’s not without its successes (thank you Kick-Ass). I’m sincerely hoping that the test went over well, and that a creatively uncompromised Deadpool movie will finally go into production sooner rather than later

Zero Budget Superhero The Amazing Bulk Skulks onto DVD in April

From the director of Aliens vs. Avatars and the producer of Metal Man comes the cheapest, zaniest, most astounding no-budget superhero mockbuster The Asylum never produced. Once you’ve feasted your eyes upon the trailer for The Amazing Bulk, then you will be able to die knowing you truly have seen everything.

Henry “Hank” Howard, an ambitious young scientist, struggles to develop a superhuman serum designed to improve muscle mass and prolong life expectancy. His boss, the grumpy General Darwin, will not allow Hank to marry his daughter, Hannah, until the experiment is a success. Against Darwin's wishes Hank proposes to Hannah anyway, but his life is shattered by a mugger who steals his engagement ring. Dejected, Hank injects himself with the experimental serum and is transformed into the Amazing Bulk.

The Bulk goes on a rampage through the city, destroying everything in his path. Hank is caught by a relentless detective, imprisoned by Darwin, and forced to battle the sadistic Dr. Kantlove, who threatens to blow up the moon with his arsenal of weapons.

If I may quote myself from the article I wrote about this film almost one year ago when the trailer for The Amazing Bulk first appeared online to the astonishment of all that viewed it:

With stock footage, green screen, and computer effects that make Xtranormal look like Pixar, director Lewis Schoenbrun (Dr. Chopper, Queen Cobra) has made what looks to be a mixture of live-action actors surrounded by the green screen aesthetics of a cheaply made TV show designed for preschoolers. For all its budgetary limitations, the visual look almost achieves a level of cartoonish artistry, like if Zack Snyder was left to fend for himself with only a laptop, a green screen, and a box of Crayolas.

Tempe Video will be bringing this giant, purple, butt cheek flashing, superhero flick starring Jordan Lawson, Shevaun Kastle, Terence Lording, Juliette Angeli, Randal Malone to DVD on April 17th. Extras will include a featurette, storyboards, deleted scenes, and trailers.

Garth Ennis Writes The Shadow. All Other News Is Cancelled. | Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Garth Ennis is writing a new The Shadow ongoing series for Dynamite for April this year, drawn by Holmes and Hornet artist Aaron Campbell, with covers by Alex Ross (above), Howard Chaykin, Jae Lee and John Cassaday.

Ennis is an appreciator of the series and the concept in its previous forms, tagging it as the only American character he’s wanted to write but is yet to.

Here’s the solicits… and the other covers.

Holy ****. Count me in.

On a related note, I finished reading this recently:

DC Comics Collected Editions April 2012 Solicitations

Among the list of the new 52 stuff coming out, I was really happy and surprised to see that Batman: Prey is coming back into print!

You may or may not remember this being mentioned as a possible guideline for the new Batman movie back when everything was still just rumors. It's been out of print for a while and copies on eBay go for around $50. So that's great news.

There also putting out the first volume of the Starman Omnibus in paperback and the Deadenders trade that Orpheus and I have been waiting so long for.

I know I have said it before but Robinson's Starman run is a beautiful thing. The artistry and almost poetry of FABLES, applied to a supercool reluctant hero. And,The Shade is wonderful as his gentleman nemesis and sometimes conscience. Best, and most complete superhero story I have ever read, and God Bless DC for letting Jack Knight stay retired. CANNOT RECOMMEND HIGHLY ENOUGH.
