Mark Bomback to Re-Write THE WOLVERINE

I thought this script was supposed to be 'very strong'. I am telling you...this'll stink as loud as origins did if not more. They tinkered the **** out of that one and now they are doing the same thing. Aronofsky didn't walk because of a long location shoot. Watch, Mangold will walk before this gets started too.

X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner updates The Wolverine, Deadpool - HitFix.com

Another looming spin-off of the "X-Men" franchise is the previously-announced "Deadpool" film, with visual effects artist Tim Miller attached to direct. Ryan Reynolds played the role in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", and Shuler Donner told me she can't imagine anyone else but him taking on the part.

"Absolutely, yeah," she responded when I asked whether Reynolds was still scheduled to portray the comic-book mercenary. "I can't imagine...who else could play Wade Wilson?"

She also stressed they would be staying true to the unpredictable character by making the film itself a wild and woolly affair.

"We're working on getting it ready, and presenting some things to the studio, cause we're gonna give it a little bit of a different look," she said. "It's a different kind of movie. If you know 'Deadpool'...it's true to 'Deadpool'. So you know, it'll be violent, and outrageous, and funny, and all that. So we're sort of putting it all together now."

I don't understand what the ****ing hold up is. I know Ryan Reynolds is busy, but they don't have a ****ing script yet? Wolverine: Origins came out two ****ing years ago! Let's move, *******s!

Probably a tougher sell because RR's overexposure has hurt his box office clout and X-men:origins being crap + First Class doing rather poor business, combined with a first time director and a 'very different' type of superhero flick = studio execs crapping their pants.

I get that, but the character is right on the verge of everyone not caring about him again thanks to over-exposure (funny how I could be talking about either Reynolds OR Deadpool).

The time is nigh.

"Swamp Thing" Envelops Yanick Paquette - Comic Book Resources

The plan is, from the start, and I don’t want any excuses, that there are going to be fill-in artists. From the start, I told everyone, I’m not going to do this thing monthly. I just can’t. We need a fill-in guy to help me out. I will do all the covers and I will do the first arc, the first two issues. I will do part of the third. I won’t do the fourth. I will do the sixth and seventh issues. I won’t do #8. I will do #9. It’s really just a back and forth collaboration. I would have loved to do it all, frankly. The story is that good. I would have loved to do everything, but I couldn’t. So Scott, [Editor] Matt [Idelson] and I devised a plan that we will have fill-ins, but in a logical fashion instead of just hurting the book by suddenly jamming someone in. Where there is a flashback or something like that, we will try to make it as logical, and artistically valuable, as possible. That’s the plan.

Cool.

Newsarama.com : Catching Up With Brian K Vaughan & His New Comic Book SAGA

Vaughan: Actually, I don’t think people should support work just because it’s creator owned. There are some pretty ****ty creator-owned books out there. That said, I do think writers and artists tend to do their best work on creator-owned books because nothing is as creatively, emotionally, and – surprisingly – financially rewarding as working on characters that you helped bring into this world. But I also think Mike Costa’s Cobra is one of the best comics being published today, and a licensed book about evil toys from my childhood is pretty much the opposite of creator owned, so I’m not a fundamentalist. Good work is rare, so support it wherever you find it.

I didn't realize how much I missed this man's writings until I read this interview. Can't wait for his new book.

How is this 'cool'? I have seen a lot of artist swapping going on in the relaunch of the 52 so far. Not exactly a strong way to basically reboot a whole universe when you can't maintain consistent artwork through the first 10 issues of some real hard sell kind of books. DC seems to have learned nothing from Marvel. I mean, christ, the blueprint is there, it's been done...yet DC can't even follow a simple blueprint. Yeah, it's good that they are trying to make substitute artists work organically, but there shouldn't be that problem before the title hits #10. If the guy is too busy, they should have got someone else. I know you want Swamp Thing to return to the heights Adgy...this ain't the way to do it if you ask me. Everything DC has done has come with an element of dodginess to it. It pains me because i hate marvel and have always been a DC guy, but they just keep finding the damned banana peel.
