The Comic Books and Comic Book movies thread

Can the world take so much Invisible goodness in one place? :O

For the record, said series, might be my favorite Vertigo series and that's saying something. I have the issues somewhere, but sometimes, wish I had some of the TPBs because it would be easier to re-read and such.

Hahaha! It took me some time to remember The Deadenders. Good job, remembering it, Adgy. :good:

Yeah, it's pretty good stuff from Brubaker. Kind of a strange coming of age series. Sorta. And it has Pleece! I first saw Pleece work on Hellblazer, and I really didn't really think his style fit that book. But it fits noir-ish and or crime stuff better.

Cool. Other than the perpetually annoyed version in the JLI books by Giffen I have always hated Captain Atom. Anyone reading that? Is it any good at all or is he still invincible and an uptight ass? Not exactly a recipe for an entertaining book. I will be getting a couple of these trades.

Now it's more of an "oh no I'm losing my humanity what's to become of me" kind of thing.

What If The Male Avengers Posed Like The Female One? Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Kevin Bolk has painted a reappropriation of an existing Avengers movie promotional image. Now, it’s all of the guyvengers turn to go for Brokeback poses.

In case you don’t remember it, here’s the original:

It's the Hulk what got me.

Is Marvel is still putting out What If or anything like it? Lol!

Yeah, their whole line. The way they shuffle continuity and kill off/resurrect characters the whole damned thing is a what if. You have to have some semblance of a solid timeline in order to present alternate Earths.

Everyone's a comedian these days. :P

Well, it's not like they've turned the Hulk into some other color...

:facepalm:

Ok you're right. Here is a What If scenario for Marvel to explore. What If we had to sell books without putting either Wolverine or Deadpool in them? Or, What if we had a shred of integrity? Make Mine Marvel.

Neil Gaiman Twitter-Agrees To Star In Kevin Smith’s Bluntman And Chronic Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Yesterday, Kevin Smith tweeted;

Mr. @JayMewes is doing a BLUNTMAN & CHRONIC cartoon and we need an Alfred voice, all British and whatnot. It’s gotta be you – @NeilHimself!

That would be Neil Gaiman, with whom Kevin Smith has enjoyed Twitter badinage in the past. Neil’s response?

@ThatKevinSmith @JayMewes sure!

I believe that is legally binding, Twitter or no.

Bluntman & Chronic, stoner analogues of Batman and Robin first appeared as a fictional comic in Smith’s Chasing Amy, and was intended to be the obligatory appearance of the Jay And Silent Bob characters, until they invaded the main plot later in the movie. Since then the comic has appeared for real, drawn by the likes of Mike Allred. Well, now it appears we are getting a cartoon…

The Shade on the Chopping Block? A Comic Worth a Look While You Still Can?|?The Beat

****, I was going to wait for the trade, but maybe I'll pick the issues up next time I'm in the shop.

Also,

Oh, and I guess I am going to be THAT GUY. Unless there’s significant re-order activity, if you’re a fan of OMAC, Static Shock, Blackhawks and Men of War — a comic above you on the charts is concerned about cancellation. That’s not a positive sign. You like those titles, you might want to start talking them up before they dip further.

Also,

Had to figure Blackhawks was going to wind up a failed experiment. Thumbed through Shade at the local shop and it certainly reminded me of Robinson's Starman run(which I love). It seemed almost too dense for individual issues. Would be a shame if they don't allow this to be completed. I was very much looking forward to reading it all at one sitting. C'mon DC, don't give up on this...if anything stop the monthlies and allow Robinson to complete it as a trade.

The Marvel Liquidation List For Late 2011 Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

It has been observed that Marvel doesn’t like keeping a large backlist of their hardcovers and trade paperbacks. Or indeed any backlist. And as a result, from time to time, they liquidate stacks of stock.

Such as the following boooks. Expect to see a lot of of these showing up in your local comic shop soon but after that… they’ll be gone.

Nothing on that list that I particularly care about, especially since it's almost all hardcovers, but just in case anyone else cares about this sort of thing... check it out. Buy now.
